ASUS R50A UMPC lands in FCC, is promptly torn apart
ASUS' R50A has been hanging around in "almost here" land for, like, ever. Over six months after we laid hands on it at CES, it seems the release is all but imminent as evidenced by its recent showing in the sprawling FCC database. Per usual, the agency did its best with that 1.3-megapixel point-and-shoot that it just can't secure funds to replace, and while we've certainly seen more invigorating dissections, this one isn't half bad considering the dearth of enthusiasm expressed by those doing the splaying. Wander on down to the read link for more dark, dingy shots of the internals.

Set sail for fail.
Wow, apple fanboy and a 'first' post?
Supersonic, megacosmic, spastacular, galactomic-epic fail.
Well at least we know the FCC isn't "wasting" their/our money by buying a camera that would let us, you know, read what is on the chips and stuff.
I call shenanigans. How can it be an Asus device if it isn't Eee-something? ;-)
'Cause it's black. Oh, snap, that was racist.
I was thinking the same thing
Found a video of somebody trying to use it on Youtube, however, it doesn't look as if she succeeded:

The touch screen seems to be extremely unresponsive, and at some point Vista is just completely blocked shuffling stuff on the harddisk. But who knows.. perhaps we'll be very positively surprised when the first real reviews show up..
...oh, your talking about the UMPC...
so...asus is concentrating more on small pc (eee pc and umpc) segment rather than their gaming segment?? they are constantly upgrading their netbooks but not the gaming laptops line-up...why?
Apparently there's also an Asus R70A with 7" screen.
