Microsoft's 20GB Xbox 360 Pro
already stooped to $299, but one particular mole -- the same one who correctly called the
60GB edition of the console -- is suggesting that
further slashing is in store. To be specific, we're talking about a $199
Arcade (no HDD), $299 Pro (60GB HDD) and a $399 Elite (120GB HDD), all of which should be available at those prices sometime next month. Furthermore, it's likely that Microsoft will toss out a few bundles in order to reel in the holiday shoppers, though details are sparse about which ones we'll be seeing. Our take? Hold off just a bit -- we get the feeling this here is more than hot air.
So, this alleviates any confusion as to when Jasper is coming.
I also think it's significant that there will be a console out there cheaper than the wii, and by a sizeable margin (50 bucks). I guess MS is looking for a good Christmas this year.
Now I know why I was offered 100 bucks for my brand new version at the gamestop store. http://www.wizeguyztees.com
forgive my ignorance but i know very little about Xbox 360... is it possible to buy a version without a hard drive and then just put in your own? or is it another one of these deals like the original where the hard drive was locked to the system it came in?
Its possible with some modding.
Yes Henry, that's the arcade system (shown here as being 199 in september). It currently retails for 279.99, and to add a hard drive, you have a to get a proprietary microsoft drive. They cost at least 100 bucks.
ultra fail. so much so that your children will inherit your failure.
8-th not counting replies :)
Nice news, engadget! Now I can get my own 360 with HDMI this autumn.
so why not buy an arcade for $200 and a 120GB hard drive for the new price of $150 and get what basically is an elite for $350?
HDMI output.
Yep this is what we need. Or at least I do. I'm not one of these spoiled brats that has mummy to wipe my ass - I have to earn a living and current prices are simply too high. I think MS only has pricing on its side anymore - pricing of both hardware and software. So let's see them bring on a price war. Yay - consumers rejoice.
Finally picked up an XBOX elite last week. So far very happy. So why xbox? Two main reasons 1) The blu-ray was very tempting, but I realized I really didn't watch that many movies and that DVDs really look just fine on my Sony Bravia 1080p but most importantly 2) Most of my friends have xbox and the few that got a PS3 regret it, so I'd rather be able to enjoy games with my friends that be the odd man out.
I'd buy one for $149, even tho I don't know why... I already have a PS3 and Wii.
they should just make the 60 GB $199 with forza 2 and halo 3 as a bundle . drop the arcade model. and make the elite with a 500GB HDD and price that at $349
then price wars would get serious
Shame it can't play all 360 stuff..
No Burnout Paradise Online
No GTA IV DLC episodes.
I'm sure there are more, and will be plenty more to come...
Get the $299 or $399, or better still, a PS3.
