ThinkPad X200 $70 cheaper with 128GB SSD option, order now!

It's almost certainly a mistake but if you head on over to the Lenovo store and plunk down an order for the 12.1-inch ThinkPad X200 ultra-portable with 128GB SSD, you'll pay $70 less than the standard 80GB hard drive configuration. This isn't just a misprint, we ran the config through Lenovo's site and sure enough, the entry level X200 price drops from $1,434 to $1,364 after selecting the biggie SSD. Hell, you'd likely pay that much for the SSD alone as the 64GB SSD lists for an $830 premium. Reader Sunil already has his order in so you'd better hurry up and do the same -- it won't be long before Lenovo wises up to the situation.
Update: Well, it was fun while it lasted, the 128GB SSD option is now gone, completely gone at any price. Do let us know if Lenovo honors those orders.
[Thanks, Tobias W. and Sunil]

Yes don't gloat too much as things like this usually don't go well. Who knows, they may be nice :)
Anyhoo, good luck and let us know if you get honored with your SSD. If you have time email evilwalter@gmail.com and let me know. Im a big IBM guy, so Im wondering if they do or not.
I love thinkpads (I own 2 of them). On my last order for my x60 tablet lenovo had posted a c2d upgrade for 40 dollars I saw it and jumped on it. When I went back later to see if it was still a good deal it was completely gone like this one was(it was later put up as a 400 dollar upgrade), but when I called lenovo to confirm that it was still going to ship they told me that it was not supposed to be put up for a few weeks but they would honor my order and agreed if I could wait about 3 weeks for production that they would ship it to me overnight at no extra charge. All I have to say is I love Lenovo's customer service and and as long as they don't change the thinkpad lines quality they will have a customer for life.
Mistake or not, this Lenovo buzz is giving me a serious desire for their tablet-line. I'm considering getting an x200 tablet when it comes out OR the x61 tablet when it goes to the Outlet store.
I doubt they will honor it. The same thing happened, if you guys remember, with the 1TB WD drives online. Things like this happen all the time, hence the reason for the disclaimer.
hmm ok judging by some comments i see that many are believing that the orders will be canceled. maybe we should work out a sort of "script" that we can all say when we call them angrily on the phone.
i want it with 128gb ssd for that price, and i am going to try to get them to honor it.
Did you get it?!?!
Did anyone get it?!?!
If you did, u got the deal of the century!!! I wish i had ordered it too... i'm in need of a new laptop

Well, if you get it for that price with 128GB SSD, Bsouid, mad props to you......I really hope you do...that would rock. In which case, for the PR cred, Lenovo should have shut their traps and made like this was a secret promotion for early adopters. Like a secret show. Would def drive up the day-1 sales of Lenovo products to give away grab-bag-style upgrades like this on launch day...
As for me - I would have loved to get the 128GB SSD, but I really need this thing to be workable right off the bat for traveling - and was planning on ordering it sans SSD anyway - so I didn't want to risk a canceled order and sell-out or the even worse scenarios of 80GB or slow MLC-SSD and returning at 15% restocking fee!
ya i bought one, order status says in process and ship date 8/19. i guess it pays off to go to work on time and check engadget as soon as i get there. ;) least time i spent thinking when buying a new computer (15 minutes) beating my previous of 30 minutes.
@newguy i am sure you will get your deal sometime. i saw on dealsea.com earlier today that lenovo made another mistake somewhere too. they switched the prices for processors on one of their models.
@glitch ya that makes sense if i wanted the machine right away i would have done the same as you. i dont really need it for any time in particular. it does look like a great machine, i am sure you will enjoy it. if it turns out to be MLC i guess i would be ok with that since it would still be a good deal but i think that in the slim chance they honor it they probably would honor it with the SLC they advertised.
i am not really afraid of the restock fee. if they give me what i ordered then i wouldnt need to restock and if they dont give it to me i would have enough argue space to get out of it.
fingers crossed...
earlier today at 12:30 AM the t400 started at $0, upgrades were $0, added to the cart for $0, but there wasn't a checkout button on the checkout page :(
saw the x200 back to its original price of ....would you believe $11,433.00!!! and that's without the 128GB SSD option ....looks like the early birds got a very big discount on this item he he he he he he
Hmm, now the X200 is priced "From $11,433.00"! Bummer...

Great!
Collect money, I'd like to buy soon.
X200 got taken off from lenovo.com
and the official response to my order was as follows .....
Dear Valued Lenovo Customer,
We are contacting you with regard to your recent Lenovo X200 order.
Please note that we recently experienced a web error which caused the price of the 128GB Solid State Drive to be erroneously listed at $0.
Unfortunately, we are unable to honor this pricing; in addition, the part is currently not available.
As a token of appreciation for your patience and understanding, we are pleased to offer you a substitute of either a 64GB Solid State Drive
or a 200GB Hard Disk Drive (7200rpm) free of charge in place of the 128GB Drive.
To accept this offer, please reply to this email and fill out the below fields by Monday August 11th with your selection.
*** If we do not receive a reply by that date, your order will be cancelled at that time.
UPDATE: I ordered this yesterday and just heard back from Lenovo. They're apologizing for the mistake and offering to substitute (free of charge) the 128GB SSD for a 64GB SSD or a 200GB HD. I have until 8/11 to decide. Still a good deal, hmmm.
What you guys think...should I take the 64GB SSD? 200GB HD not even worth considering...

They offer 64G for essentially free?! Are you kidding? I'd jump on it. You should be able to find a way to make a profit here if you're not interested in keeping it for yourself.
Anybody want to buy this off me? I'm ok with keeping it or selling it, I have too many laptops.
If its still configurable, I'll take it from you. Email jnguy at ucsd dot edu
Well here is the latest! I managed to get an order in before they took it off their website. They have written back and said they made a mistake and cannot honor the original offer. Also they say they do not have any more 128 Gb solid state memory drives in stock. But..... and this is a big but, they have made the offer to to replace it with the 64Gb solid state drive (which on their site lists for I believe an addirtional $830) for free. What do you think folks? Deal or No Deal?
I got the email too for the 64Gb SSD or the 200Gb 7200rpm drive. I don't know if I plan on ordering it or not, but this deal is too good to waste. If someone else would like to order it, I'd certainly help you get it. Send me an email at my username at gmail.com and we'll try to work something out. Serious inquiries only please. Oh, and the offer email expires on Monday 8/11.
Just got an email today saying Lenovo is processing my order and has the 128GB SSD drive listed... Looks like Lenovo may be honoring the 128GB SSD deal...
just for the latest update on this deal...
After a long month (almost) of waiting, lenovo has shipped the laptop with a 80gb without noticing me what so ever, and i have try to their return center, they are trying to enforce their 15% restocking fee on me...im going to give them a fight for that.
but just thought to let everybody know at least one order failed for the 128SSD
*didnt get any email with the 64SSD or 200GB change. nor any email in between the 5th until 26th (shipment) that my order was changed.
