Home-built Batman Tumbler invades the suburbs

While we're guessing "working replica" might be a bit of a stretch, this full-size, drivable Tumbler built by Bob Dullam in his garage is still quite the impressive piece of work, and will no doubt crush any eBay records set by home-built K.I.T.T.s if it ever actually goes up on the auction block. Unfortunately, apart from the fact that it cost between $50,000 and $70,000 to build, there aren't many more details on the thing, but you can at least check out a few more pictures of it by hitting up the read link below. And, yes, Bob does plan to build a Bat Pod next.

Jamma, that was a courageous thing you did there...

Never saw the post on Digg, you do realise more than one person may have seen the film and remembered the line?
wow quomen. what an idiot. It was a fricken line from the movie. Get over yourself
yay for Lambo!
I hope it does that thing where the seat folds forward and you go into weapon mode
Waiting for the video of him driving through traffic, jumping on rooftops, etc.
I demand a video of that thing driving supa fast on a highway.

Oh good, I was almost certain that I was gonna get rick rolled...
cool.....this is something that Bill Gates would live to drive around in since he's now retired and has some well deserved leisure time. Maybe Bill Gates will hire this guy to build one for him. This would be useful in his travels to Africa where he does so much charity work as of course anywhere else he would like to go.
MICROSOFT FOREVERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Bob Dullam, I found the first test case for your "Does it pwn nubs?" dry run.
My hunch is "Yes.".
I would love to buy this for this upcoming Halloween. And the Tumbler that was used in "Batman Begins" was a real working vehicle not a model as posted above. And it will drive through walls, no joke. Google it.
What's up with the bulge in the suit? Is that thing for the BatSchlong?
More pics of this one here:

But can it play Crysis?
Awesome, but I don't like the finish.
I've chatted with this dude before. The Bobs are very talented dudes, and Dullam's Tumbler has been absolutely incredible to watch form from a few tires and a rough chassis into a full fledged vehicle.
The other Bob is currently working on the Batmobile from Batman Forever, and the thing even has hydraulics to lift up and down into attack mode.
The pic Engadget posted is old news, though; no rear flaps, no afterburner, etc.. You'd think they'd use a more recent image.
i wonder if it's as fast as the real (read: movie version) thing. i would like it to pass some crash (or bazooka) tests.
its some great fabwork thats for sure, i want to know what frame he built it off of and what motor is in it, that rear axle seems mighty small for those tires....
I don't believe he's stated yet what motor is in there, but the entire frame is custom built.
Here's a gallery of the Bobs' work: http://www.dullam-causey.com/gallery/
This is lame. I want the real batmobile.

I wonder if WB is going to sue him for copyright infringement....
i would be awsome if someone recorded that beast on the road :D
some people need to grow up!!
Umm why? Because you say so?
So.... What does the cop write down on the speeding ticket for Make and Model??? Batmobile?
Make: Wayne Industries
Model: Batmobile
Year:2008
I love you.
I gotta ask though. I can't imagine that thing is remotely street legal. What with no bumpers and very limited FOV. Pity. The head turns cruising down an interstate going 70....yummm.
No bumpers isn't an issue (I think), but no fenders is against the law... at least here in CA. Even if a vehicle has fenders, the tires can't protrude out of the fender.
does it come in black?
question about the tumbler's suspension.
does the fron wheel skirt armor plate move with the fron suspension or is fixed to tha chassis?
