ASUS launches Eee Storage, takes your Eee PC to the cloud... kind of
Apparently Jerry Shen and the homegirls / boys at ASUS want to get a slice of that sweet cloud pie. According to a report, the computer-maker has launched a service called Eee Storage, which provides 20GB of online storage for Eee PC users, as well as access to downloads of around 3,000 pieces of free software and games. The company hopes to expand the service -- which uses a drag and drop interface for file management -- into a full blown "store" where users can download music and "various other content." In the picture above you can see Jerry demonstrating the service to a group of bemused high school reporters.

"Look, we have at least 6 more months until we flood the sub-note market with Eee. So let's do our best to milk it for all it's worth."
ASUS press statement: "We want to get everyone up in to the cloud on Eee's."
i thought they stole cloudbook.
MobileMe and App Store copycat.

@Jobbs
Maybe Asus will deploy something that just works.
Jobbs....go to Hell you asshat.
What's next? Eee condoms? Eee hair gel?
EeePhone?
Condoms that are easy to learn! Easy to work! Easy to play!
hahaha i will pass on EEE condoms. they are too small and cheap for me.
are not!
7"s (diagonal) is the perfect size if you know how to use it properly. 9"s and 10"s are just a waste.
ummmm..... what are we talking about, again?
eeecondoms...rock solid...heart touching.
wait..what?
I actually like this idea. Lots of cool extra features for EEE users, but the swarm of EEEs gotta stop. At this point, they should just offer BTO.
Ya man, a little Bachman-Turner Overdrive would go great with the Eee
Frosted Eee Flakes taste GREEEAT!!!!
I've had this for a little while now, it came free with the 901, didn't work very well. I have it on my Mac.
What is the point of having online storage for a device that does not have 3G (unless you use your phone + bluethoot and drain your battery)
bluethoot = smurf farts?
I wonder when the EeeDork comes out. Getting tired of all Eeeloser and living legend Eeel is kinda boring so i'm gonna wait for the first one.
Point if your sick of the daily Eee press releases!
ASUS has already started offering something like this. See the review of the Eee PC 1000 and the hands on with the YoStore: http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/asus-eee-pc-1000-linux.aspx
I picked up an EEE 1000H yesterday and it already had the EEE Storage service installed.. cool stuff
wow every one will like Eee nice
Introducing....Mobile MEee
And there it is.
Whats the point in using an online storage service on a laptop with 3G?
Ordinary 100M ethernet storage is bad enough but on 3G and even HSDUPPA it will suck exactly one meelion times more. It would be almost as bad as using WebApps
Eeenough already!
A letter situated slightly to the right of 'Ddd' and to the left of 'Fff'
does this require the original xandros to work?
people are always like "OH NO, CHINAS GONNA TAKE OVER THE WORLD ECONOMY!" Yet, you only need to look at ASUS to realize that it won't be happening for a long long time.
You mean that Far Eastern companies can compete with Mexican companies like IBM and Canadian companies like Microsoft?
(For the hard-of-understanding: Asus is Taiwanese, not Chinese...)
whats the url?
or you could get all crazy and pick up an external 60gb drive for $40, or buy a netbook with some decent storage.
"Hold on, I have that document, just let me get online and download it for you... um, I don't have any space on my netbook, do you have a USB drive I can borrow?"
LOL
Man, Asus is really milking their Eee brand. I can't wait for my Eee toaster / convection oven!
Wake me when they offer the Eee Quesadilla Maker.
That dude in the blue shirt is totally flipping you off...on the sly!
how about this: WALL-eee ?
special edition of the notebook =p
That's actually not a bad idea. I mean sure online storage has been around forever and it's not exactly ground breaking, but if they put an app on the Xandros desktop for off site file storage, I think it could really compliment the limited storage space of the lesser models.
NEWS FLASH!!!
