Apple trims push notification out of newest iPhone firmware beta
According to Appleinsider, the newest beta of iPhone firmware (2.1, beta 4) has been seeded to developers, but takes one crucial element off the table -- push notification. If you'll recall, the new feature will allow third-party developers to take advantage of Apple's servers for real-time push of data to applications. Apparently, the feature has been cut from the most recent beta for "further development" with no indication of when it will be reinstated. Of course, this is a beta seed of the firmware -- the actual release is slated for September -- and it makes sense that Apple would be tweaking major additions like this before going live, especially considering its recent launch debacles.

I think one of the previous articles where Jobs admitted they had too much on their plate at launch sums it up best. Would have been better to release one new feature at a time and get it right the first time, then try to release everything all at once with several problems all across the board.
iPhone is Apple's Vista. Too much reliant on upcoming updates to fix flaws. The only difference is once these flaws are fixed, Apple fanboys are quickly to forget there were ever flaws. Yet they continue drag Vista's flaws that had long been fixed.
I know what you mean, it's kind of funny really...Coming from sells computers all the time I see this pretty often. Apple has ALL kinds of hype (they make good stuff don't get me wrong), while Vista has anti-hype. "I want XP though...I've heard all kind of bad things about Vista" Was that before the service pack came out? "...what?" *rolls eyes*
As for the iPhone...mine seems to crash quite a bit, I don't know what the deal is, kinda drives me insane...hopefully they fix it soon (and yes, I have the newest update)
I was actually very surprised to talk to a friend who got a virus on Vista. I thought they'd be done with those by now.
At least they finally picked up on UAC.
What really would have made Vista worthwhile would have been if it was exclusively 64 bit.
I tend to hate on Apple, however I really feel sorry for the people who just got burned again here.
And with many of their programmers pissed about the "forced labor camp" and "slavery" type working conditions, it could take awhile for the "List to do" to get completed. :(
No push notification = No killer apps
