80GB PlayStation 3 arrives early at Best Buy, Friday in Europe

Lookie, lookie, an 80GB PS3 snapped up for $400 from a local Best Buy. Although not officially due until September, reports are trickling in from around these United States of Gaming of an early release. Not too much of a surprise, we guess, what with European retailers all showing a Friday retail launch. One interesting thing to note is the SKU: at least one of these early rigs reads CECHK01, not CECHL01 as seen in the FCC... hmmm. SKU pictured after the break.

This item is available from ASDA Walmart on the 29th of august.
I saw the point of sale the other day.
Not sure why GB size matters when the instruction manual in the ps3 tells you how to upgrade your HD. I just swapped my 40gb out for a 320 with a 3.00 transfer rate and it rocks. Took about 5 minutes too.
You want to do everything in your power to avoid returning an item (any item) to Fry's Electronics. It's sort of like secondary screening at Ben-Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv), or visiting death row inmates at San Quentin. Their assumption is that you are a criminal. Even if the item you are returning is sealed in its original packaging, they will open it to make sure that all of the pieces and parts are there. Of course, there is also a pretty long list of items that can't be returned at all. So check it out at Fry's, but don't buy it there unless you are absolutely, positively certain that you are planning to keep it.
Frys in SoCal (Anaheim) had at least 20 or so. They also had Halo editions on clearance for $360.91
Anywaz, yes Fry's can give you a hassle, I've been through it, though sometimes, they seem to be a little better/nicer lately for me. I guess its matter how you approach and how you return things. I know at Frys they put a strapping cord around their boxes as an added level of 'did not open' along with a sticker so in most cases, they aren't too bad. Its just too many folks try to pull fast ones on them (and other retailers) that make it harder for the business. It was once rumored that they had an incentive for their return staff to 'limit' returns or make them more into exchanges, so I wouldn't be surprise if some of the associates are a little 'ugh'...
Personally, I'd buy my next game console from Target or Walmart because those stores give me 90day returns versus Worstbuy, CC or Frys.
GameStop had them on the today (yesterday?!). From what I was told, exactly like the 40GB (2 usb ports, not BC, DualShock) just a bigger drive.
Anyone else think the box is very Wii-ish, what with the white background and the console standing against it? Guess you can't blame them for trying to tap into whatever is working for Nintendo.
Hi Can anybody tell me if the 2008 model playstation 3 SKU support 220 voltage ?
Thank's
I just bought a 80GB for $399.99 for my boyfriend. Should I return it for a better one or is this a good one? I'm not to into this stuff so I need some help.
