Archos.com is under maintenance, generation 6 players expected soon
If Archos.com happens to be a regular haunt of yours, you might've noticed that the site went down last night, with only a simple message remaining: "Coming up soon..." If you can ignore the awkward phrasing, it sounds like Archos has more than a new website in the works, and most people are pretty sure a generation 6 line of players is being prepped, including a flagship 606 device. A tipster says the site is due back at midnight CET (a bit over 9 hours from now), but that hasn't been confirmed. Archos did have a little teaser graphic up for a few days before the site went down (pictured) , but that's about all we've got to go on, at least officially -- rumors naturally abound.[Thanks, Ziplepingouin]

Oh Common'...are you going top post a story EVERY TIME archos.com goes down for maintence...I hope this is not a sign of things to come on Engadget
"INTERNET MEDIA TABLETS" HMmmmmm
well, it is Tuesday.
oh, wait.
Preempting the Ringo company, are we?
Looks like they are taking some tips from Apple on how to build anticipation.
@adam
They do it every single time the apple store has a little yellow post it, so why not with archos. At least this way people will remember that there's more out there than just all those iProducts.
I, for one, can't wait to see what they've come up with for the 6th gen!
I actually put sarcasm quotes around my post...but Engadget's commenting system didn't like that. :-D

Sure wish they would fix the EPG service that has been down for over a month, making our DVR stations pretty much useless. That is unless you enjoy scheduling everything manually.
I'm Archos always has the best intentions and great innovations, they just have trouble with long delays and following through on fixing bugs and adding features...
"I'm *sure* Archos" left one word out...
Come on Archos, show me something I must have.
If they don't support 720p/(1080p) H264 MKVs with AC3(/DTS) audio support, they ain't worth a second look. *spits tobacco*
I don't understand why these big, professional companies can't have the new website up and tested in a different folder and then just copy the data over when they are ready!
It's not to test anything, just to "buzz" a little!
Because it creates a little bit of hype.
dawt!
Eager to see what they come up with. Got two Archos now that I use on a regular basis but would be glad to replace them if they come out with something worth buying.
Of course it would just be nice if they fixed their current products first. The EPG for the DVR station and i'm sure their TV recorder product has been broken for 3 weeks.
Lets hope the new machine actually comes with a real power supply not a usb cable, the ability to swap a battery and a built in web browser not one you have to purchase extra!

new Archos 5 pmp :DDD
it seems to be up now...new pictures
The site is up with new products!!
They look nice, but the battery life just killed it for me 12 hours for audio and 4 for video? Looks like I'm still waiting on the Cowon D3, or if not the D2.
I'm waiting for a bit more info on pricing, software, and whatnot. I like the new look though.
Are Archos 'child-friendly'? I'm thinking about something to load lots of DVDs onto before a long trip with a 3 year-old.
