Sorry? Microsoft is planning to put Bill "The World's Most Charismatic Man" Gates in their adverts? I have a lot of respect for the man himself, and particularly what he is doing these days, but he's a sure cure for insomnia. Has anyone else watched his keynote addresses? Watching paint dry is more interesting. I can understand using Jerry Seinfeld but Bill himself should be kept as far away from marketing as possible.
This said, it's been clear for years that Micrsoft has no clue how to market their products so this nutball idea is pretty much inline with recent history.
I'd say that Microsoft has probably the most ingenious marketing scheme: don't bother with the end user, instead market to OEMs, and the end user will end up using Windows no matter what.
It's a lot cheaper (i.e. free) to give out licenses to OEMs than it is to pay millions for commercials, why they're doing it now is a mystery.
Hmm, I wonder if I'm Low Ranked because I said that that I had respect for Bill Gates or because I said he was boring. You never can tell with this site.

You clearly upset the MS/Windows fanboys with your less than glowing praise for the HNIC (Head Nerd in Charge) ;)
