Canon's EOS 50D product shots, test photo leaked
It's fairly obvious that the EOS 50D is on its way out into the world, especially considering those pics and specs we just caught wind of. Still, it's nice to see some decent images of the 15.1-megapixel DSLR, and thanks to a brief Canon Japan website slip-up, we're able to do just that. Check out one more view of the device after the break.

The site the images are from is fake. Don't people realize the site is actually dog-cr.jp and has nothing to do with Canon. If you find out who runs the site, it's a firm out of LA.
FAKE.
EF-S mount?
:(
It wouldn't make sense to make it full frame, There'd be little reason to continue the 5D line then.
"EF-S mount?"
Canon bodies that have the EF-S mount can ALSO mount EF lenses, like the 300/350/400/450D and 20/30/40D. So they actually have a larger lens selection than EF only cameras.
If you meant it would still have a crop sensor, it doesn't make sense for the 40D successor to be full frame. It's a $1,000 camera, we're not there yet.
why are you suprised the 50D is not full frame? Look at the previous models. this is a prosumer line.
no built in flash = not a successor to the 40d.
meh, I realize it may have a pop up flash, hard to judge from the picture as I do not plan to compare to the 40d to see if that line is there too, but it just looks to me at a glance that it does not. nevermind me.
It looks just like the 40D -- I have two sitting right here. The only differences are the knurling on the mode knob and the printing around the direct print button (which I'm hoping means it's programmable, not that I'm buying one).
If you look closely, it not only has the line where the flash will pop up, but also has the button you use to pop up the flash in any of the manual modes (front shot, to the upper-right of the lens)
It DOES have a built in flash.... look at the flash button to the right of the lens,
but I'm pretty sure that photo is fake unless they intend it to be identical to the 40D?
The only differences are the mode dial on the top and the pict bridge button.
lol
noob
DNA,
Pay attention to details please!
Wow! That sample shot is surely impressive. :D
Plus, they took it of a rally car in action, very awesome.
Would they really put the mode dial on a bit of a slant? Seems kind of strange to me at least.
I've never understood the point of the built in flash except on the Rebel series since most of the folks who'll buy the xxD cameras probablly use an external flash or shoot with a fast lens.
Yeah, i definitely never use my built-in flash, but this line of cameras is still prosumer, and most people i see in public with these cameras just keep them in dummy mode and don't know much about photography yet, so people like that probably do want a built-in flash and i think those people are a pretty good size of canon's market. I know i have some rich friends that went out and bought a 30D or a 40D when they were new just because they wanted to play around. I have a 40D, but i've been a photographer for a while now and i needed it.

On the original site none of the links work except for the 50D ones. very fake page.
Meh. Just another fake.
Apparently the index page of the "leaked" 50D links to: http://www.canon.icp.dog-cr.jp/
But the actual Canon Japan index page links to: http://canon.jp/
And fyi, the page is in Chinese so there's no way it will be from Canon Japan.
P.S Engadget needs a translator. No i dont mean babelfish.
The original leak was on the Canon China web site, but it was quickly brought down, but not before most of the pages on Canon China site pertaining to the 50D were copied to the dog-cr.jp sight, they are identical.
Im looking for a used XSi 450D right now.
no full frame ... no buy.
Hello. Canon. Please release a new 5D.
I wholeheartedly confirm, who in their right mind would want an upgrade to 40D when there is absolutely nothing outdated yet with the 40D that's out. 5D is so obviously ready to be updated so I'm anxiously looking for that to pop up.
This is a 40D. they just changed the name to 50D. Either way I want to change my 350D for a 50D soon!!! I'm hoping for the 15MP sensor although I think it's quite unlikely given that they usually increase them by 2MP only or non at all (20D to 30D).
I want the new 5D! Pleease!

At the FPP Trade show today, the Canon booth had a box wrapped up which said "Surprise to be unveiled August 26th"
how would anyone know if they were real product shots? all they have to do is change the number on the front and since most of the canon SLRs look the same, people would believe it...
Lol Engadget's been had. Everything looks identical to the 40D except the number tag, which does not look real (look carefully at the 5, the font is slightly different and the placement is crowding the edge). Every version of the Canon has had noticeable body differences, no exceptions, and here there are zero differences, not even one screw is different.
Fake, fake, fake, and Engadget fell for it!
Fake or not, why does Canon still put a *fixed* LCD display on their pro-sumer digicams?
Even the cheap Canon A600 line has a flip-out LCD display.
Meh.

I hate scumbags like you. If you cant afford the camera. WORK for it....who cares if you are students or not. If you dont have the money then just keep saving.
Asides from these comments, the 50D has rumored ISO12800. Look at the SPECS people. The camera might look the same but this is a completely different beast.
15.1MP --- 4752 x 3168 pixels
JPEG´s + RAW + sRAW1 + sRAW2
Digic IV
AF Fine Tuning [AF microadjustment]
ISO 100-3200 Expanded 6400-12800
If anyone of you saw the sample image as iso1600. There was little to no noise on that shot. I want to see the iso6400-12800 and see how it compares.
I wouldn't post your paypal address up on a public domain like this. All someone has to do now is get your password and they can send money to anywhere with your bank and credit card accounts. It happens more often than you think.
The rubber-grippy-stuff is different right below the A/F lamp than on the 40D.
Canon just updated their site: www.canoneos.com the EOS 50D is listed in their lineup. I've been monitoring this tonight, looks like they updated it in the last 10-20 minutes. Direct link to the 50D: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=17499
I got the 30D for DIRT cheap, so when the 40D came out, I saw no need to upgrade. Now that the 50D is soon upon us, I may have to say bye to my 30D. I really like the bump up in the ISO and the fster processor.
