Apple introducing new iPods on September 9th?
There's been a lot of iPod chatter in the air lately and now MacRumors and Ars Technica say that we'll be seeing El Steve boom-boom some new gear on September 9th. No specifics on what's in store, but new nanos are obviously on the table, as is that rumored subscription service and possibly a new iPod touch at a lower price. Anything you guys hoping for?

RADIO ... what's the holdup with this? Why doesn't the iPod have a radio function yet??
No new iMacs with the next presentation.... just updated pods and mbooks
Dude, I think if Apple were planning on adding a radio to the iPod, they would have done so sometime in the last 6 product generations.
September 9th?
Brilliant! Jobs is a genius. He can stuff it with defective software, slow ass flash storage and batteries fit to burst into flames after 24 hours usage.
I mean thats what I'd do, specially since it all ends on Sept 10th with CERN and its LHC.
Kaboomm
and i know that Engadget keep us posted!
i wish upon a star that an ipod will someday feature the ability to tap into that new, fancy technology where I can actually grab signals from the air and hear them transformed into sound...what's it called again? oh yeah, FM radio.
ipod -
Better Sound quality (for example with decent headphones there is a noticeable difference between an ipod and the sony NWZ A820)
The ability to use simple drag n drop to transfer music to the device
Better Battery life
Itunes -
More DRM free content
The ability to tag files properly would be great! I dont know about anyone else but its hit or miss wether or not itunes tags files properly for me. The tags read correctly when I inspect them in itunes but when i put files on my ps3 or mp3 player they show up incorrectly (no album art, only half the racks have artist names, album etc). The option to embed album art to the tag of each file would be a great feature - for a while I used an apple script to do this but in the end it was much easer for me to use media monkey to manage my music.

Why hello there Mr. Glare.
iphone 3g w/ 32gb hdd
ipod touch nano anyone?
Damn,
Compnird beat me to it. Good idea though I think
I don't think they will release it on the same time, but new Mac Mini's would be nice. Also the touch needs a speaker and if they could fit it in there a camera.
One of my friends works at the Carphone Warehouse here in the UK, and he has supposedly had a play around on the new iPod Touch.
He firstly confirmed for me that yes, there is a revised version coming out. He couldn't give anything away on materials though he did say it is basically staying the same sort of shape and size, however they are adding 5 buttons to the outside.
He confirmed two are for the volume (idential to the iPhone), and 3 are for track control (i.e. pause/play, skip forwards and skip backwards).
He also said the latest info he has on it will be that it will be coming out "sometime next month" and it will be cheaper than last time. That's all I've been able to get out of him!
Just have to wait and see!
Lower Priced Touch... Or a Touch Nano of some type. Smaller touch screen iPod would be cool. I love the touch screen but the footprint is too big for me, and the nano doesn't hold enough music. I wouldn't mind the above if it came in 32GB+ sizes.
It isn't an ipod, its a nano iphone. It is the same shape as this phone:http://www.au.kddi.com/english/product/lineup/infobar2/index.html but with a dail, instead of a keypad.
"one ringy dingy, two ringy dingies"
I cant wait for a cheaper touch. It would be my first ipod!
I think apple has purposely let out this picture. Then everyone will feel that the upcoming ipod nano is gonna be crap. And when they see the real ipod nano, they will think it's awesome. I hope this is the case.
In response to the question: "What are you wishing for? and other aspects of iLife 8:
I'm wishing that Steve Jobs would put the Share/iDVD option back in iMovie 8, so those who still want to burn movies to DVDs can do so, without the unnecessary detour through iMovie 6, with the corresponding loss of video quality. What's the harm of returning that capability so we can burn DVDs with HD movie quality??? Not everyone has wide-band internet, nor relatives with high speed computers and internet connections to watch streaming video, but most have DVD players.
iMovie 8 - bring back direct access to iDVD!!!
Apple is updating their online store right now, i checked both the american and australian store and they both say 'we'll be back soon, we're busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly'!?!?! does this mean that tomorrow morning we will all be able to buy new iPod models? I hope so, allthough i just got the iPhone 3G and i love it, hopefully the new models wont out do mine.
i love the 2g ipod touch but if they included gps itd be perfect
