Fujitsu announces M1010 netbook for Q4 launch
Fujitsu finally got official with its Amilo Mini netbook yesterday after not exactly keeping it a secret these past few months, and it's now gone out and announced another curiously similar netbook, the M1010, which may or may not actually just be slight variation of the Amilo Mini. Like the Mini, the M1010 weighs in at 2.2 pounds and will pack an 8.9-inch display, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, and built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, plus some removable clip-on covers in an "array of delightful colors." Fujitsu doesn't seem to be quite ready to go any further than that, however, which could certainly suggest that it's not one and the same as the Amilo Mini, as could the fact that Fujitsu describes the M1010 as "easy on the wallet," which doesn't exactly apply to the nearly $600 Amilo Mini. We should know for sure soon enough either way though, as the netbook is set to launch sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.[Via Laptoping, thanks Danijel]

There is a name you don't hear very much.
If they wanna impress me, create a netbook that runs CRYSIS on very high.
(Yes, I know saying Crysis is like painting a bullseye on this post for a Low Rank, but, fortunately, I AM BEYOND THAT )
FIRST POST !

your arbitrary use of caps and seething self-importance do the trick just fine, however.

Do people try to get out of Low-Ranking by mentioning they're going to receive low rankings?

you were doing well until that last line.

Nice. But what about the config. - Processor/RAM ?
I still like the ASUS N10 netbook.

And what will the U.S. get? Laptopmag.com reports that neither this nor the Amilo are headed stateside: http://blog.laptopmag.com/fujitsu-siemens-enters-netbook-market-with-amilo-mini.

I'm getting sick of all the netbooks having virtually the same components, 1.6ghz Atom processor, 8.9 or 10.2" 1024x600 screen, 8 to 20gb SSD or 80 to 120gb HDD, etc etc etc.
I want to see some netbooks that stand above the crowd, have higher resolution screen like the 2133 HP MiniNote does, DVI or HDMI out, etc

I want to see netbooks that are actually netbooks, and therefor inexpensive. Why on Earth would someone want one of these things for watching HD movies? Or even SD movies for that matter? All I'd really expect out of my NETbook is to be able to competently browse the NET, which I think includes instant messaging, e-mail and youtube via wifi and 3G(perhaps on higher end models). Beyond that it might as well be a regular notebook, and at that point you're paying for power in a small space. Basically I guess you could say I expect netbooks to be like the Foleo(io?), but not have to be tethered to a phone.

actually i cant understand why they are following faulty design ..
clicks on sides and such a ugly screen just makes device worse..
msi wind is best in field but quite expensive ..
i would be using acer one if it had abit bigger screen .. it would be superb .

Wait, so this is a light version of a notebook that's less than 10"? Wow! How new and exciting is that????
ssrat_ @ Aug 29th 2008 8:10PM
ANOTHER one into the pile, now we know the general specs we need a photo and a price, those 2 things are what will keep it around or get rid of it from consideration (above $400, out it goes -unless it is a touch/with full fold back)
PLEASE get everyone together for a SINGLE release date, so we don't have to wait, then wait for the next one etc.etc.

Never again with Fujitsu. Our company made a huge investment in two different large fleets of Fujitsu Tablet PCs. Fujitsu's Tablet PC offerings are cheaply built, poorly engineered, and prone to widespread failure. They don't offer on-site notebook service, and their repair depot takes 2-4 weeks to repair a laptop, and occasionally loses one for months at a time. We moved on to Lenovo after it became clear that Fujitsu doesn't have a leg to stand on when it comes to customer service. Never again.
