Alright, maybe "superfluous" is a bit harsh, but we're still a bit confused as to why LG stuck Bluetooth into
its new 7000-series LCDs and plasmas. Sure, if they offered a Bluetooth remote we'd take it all back in a heartbeat, but the fact is that there are about four people on earth that own stereo Bluetooth headphones, and none of them have been watching TV on mute all this time -- and the rest of us are too lazy to figure out how to beam pictures from our phone over Bluetooth, the other main function LG provides here. But would you look at that menu! It really makes it all worthwhile. Heck, LG could toss in some 802.11a, SCSI and a pinch of MIDI plugs if it meant more menus like this. Oh, and we suppose those purtiful icons will come in handy when browsing for photos off of the 7000's USB port, so good on you, LG, good on you.

Ayman @ Aug 31st 2008 5:10AM

LG makes TVs?
Tej @ Aug 31st 2008 4:56AM
Have you been living under a rock??
Adderz @ Aug 31st 2008 5:20AM
LG are alot like Samsung, they like to have their finger in every pie, the only difference is, Samsung makes things that are worth buying (most of the time).
LG have their place in the market, sure, but i prefer to not scrape the bottom of the barrel.
They need to concentrate on reliability and public image, not introducing features no one will use.
KrustyOrama @ Aug 31st 2008 5:22AM
"superfluous" "pertaining" "purtiful"
I don't understand anything! For SCSI I had to use wikipedia. Guess I am too illiterate for engadget
Metkis @ Aug 31st 2008 5:53AM
Okay!...wait... I see what you did thar.
ericdj @ Aug 31st 2008 5:23AM
I love my Sony DR-BT50 bluetooth headphones with the Sony iPod adaptor. Wish more TV's came with the option. The other 3 of you chime in so I know who the other 3 heaadphone owners are.
NightBlade @ Aug 31st 2008 6:08AM
Please do tell who the other 2 BT headphone users are. I'm curious.
tarun @ Aug 31st 2008 7:25AM

Phoenix @ Aug 31st 2008 8:03AM
I use A2DP headphones on my kaiser... There's a hell of a lot more than 4 of us out there!
Let's make this a roll-call of engadget readers who use them! Reply, reply!
Eric @ Aug 31st 2008 9:22AM
DR-BT22's on my N95 (and Ubuntu laptop).
Oh, I forgot this is Engadget...
4th (A2DP) Post!
computer.dude.28 @ Aug 31st 2008 11:32AM
Motorola HT-820s here and if I could use my headphones on my tv that would be great for late-night-early-morning CoD-ing!
JimBoNetic @ Aug 31st 2008 5:26PM
Urmmm I quite like my SonyEr. BT plugs with LCD =o)
Using them 4 my lappy too, but watching(listening) TV with it? Don't think so..
Big Sam @ Aug 31st 2008 12:08PM
I use BT headphones with my Samsung P2 when I work out, sometimes with my Tilt, and rarely with my laptop.
bolezhinkov @ Aug 31st 2008 2:00PM
yeah count me in - I bought the yp-p2 because I am so down with wireless headphones. now I use them with my phone and laptop all the time. sometimes I am thinking about getting bluetooth headphones installed internally.
Bitsbite @ Aug 31st 2008 5:59AM
I find it amusing how picture and option are singular.
drumdbeat @ Aug 31st 2008 7:00AM
"Picture" is to adjust the quality of what you see on the screen, not to view pictures from your portable device, so this in singular seems correct.
Photos and music files are accessed throught the "USB" feature (The icon shows that it handles images and audio files). Also there is an image in the gallery that shows this.
Though "Option" is a bit odd in singular, maybe you only get one option? lol.
Nice TV.

I love my bluetooth sony headphones and use them every day, I've never understood why they haven't caught on.
You bitch away if you want to, but I'll be off listening to my music while you untangle your shitty white cables.
drumdbeat @ Aug 31st 2008 7:06AM
"shitty white cables."
Ahah, white like the ones from an iPod? Made by apple? Engadget & Apple? lol.
Blah at you.
John @ Aug 31st 2008 11:00AM
I'm using IR headphones. because I don't need better than LoS when I'm in my room and I thought that what with the PS3, 4 controllers, mouse, keyboard, random peripherals... it was better to just not get another doohickey on the same frequency.
Vince @ Aug 31st 2008 6:35AM
I use a set of Bluetooth headphones everyday at work. Allows me to listen to a variety of podcasts and net-radio without being chained to my cubicle. I can wander about 15-20 feet away without worrying about dragging my laptop off my desk.
Jean Luc Picard @ Aug 31st 2008 6:58AM
I love my BT-Headphones.
Don´t be silly just because the iphone doesn't have A2DP.
Don´t get me wrong I really love U all here @ iGadget.
drumdbeat @ Aug 31st 2008 7:08AM
Boom!
Another Engadget & Apple dig!
Jeez.
Kennyb123 @ Aug 31st 2008 11:38AM
Hey Paul Miller - did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Could you be any more negative and pessimistic? Your post was painful to read.
Also... "The FACT is" is followed by something that is hardly a fact. You can do better than this, Paul.
Geonerd @ Aug 31st 2008 12:25PM
Mate, we are a lot more than 4 using BT Headphones. Where have u been living all this years, Siberia?
I´ve got A2dp in car stereo, snow helmet, Ibiza rhapsody, Jaybird Headphones and Motorola Headphones. Anything else? aa yea my leopard OSX !!! Wake up man, rebel against your horrible cables.
Wish apple could put some A2DP in their next touch ....
Sausage_factory @ Aug 31st 2008 1:03PM
It's me, I have Sony Bluetooth headphones!
ifoughtfate @ Aug 31st 2008 4:15PM
How bluetooth headphones have not caught on is completely beyond me.
Wires suck, I love my bluetooth headphones.
Clearly not @ Sep 1st 2008 8:35AM
I'll concede that the icons look decent, but the UI takes forever switching between them!. Seriously, why on the 21th century are controls this slow.
Shame on you LG, shame on you...
Prot @ Sep 3rd 2008 6:13PM
Whassup Engadget! Couldn't find a matching BT dongle for ya Macs ;) ?
Plantronics Pulsar rocks. Indoor, outdoor, for Voip, for music, for ...ehm...eavesdropping. C'mon guys, get creative. And don't count me in for those 4 owners of A2DP gear on earth, We on K-Pax use A2DP all the time...
