The Aspire is a nice-looking machine. . . Almost top of the heap. I like it's size, and weight, but the build seemed a little flimsy when I got to handle one in the BoxStore (tm). But it has a nice feature set and the price is excellent. It's basically what ASUS tried to do with the 700, but here they got it right.
But I went with an eee1000H instead. A bigger screen and a bigger battery, and a very solid-feeling design. You can get them now for $459. I'm pretty much in love with this machine and I find myself using it several times a day, every day in the house and out. Being able to watch two movies back to back on a single charge with power to spare is really nice.
However, when I saw that Aspire were now shipping a version with a 6-cell battery for $419, it made me look again. --A friend has been eying my 1000H, but I told him that while yes, it's a fantastic machine, it was also a touch heavy for its class and that there were cheaper options. It's now a bit of a toss up. The price gap between it and the Aspire is pretty small now, so the question really becomes one of weight, screen-size, and. . , er, bum-size.
I'll leave it up to him. It's a tough choice, but luckily, I no longer have to make it!
The Triumph proved to be one of the better looking and performing pre-paid handsets we'd had the pleasure of holding in our sweaty mitts, but we had one major hangup: the name.
