Fujitsu Asia Pacific intros the L1010
Like your laptops available in soft, colorful tones? Looking for something a bit entry level? Fujitsu may have just the thing for you. The company has just introduced its L1010 mid-priced laptop (in Asia, at least), and it looks like just the right thing if you're not trying to break the bank or win friends and influence others. The L1010 packs a Core 2 Duo CPU atop the PM45/GM45 Express Chipset, a 1280 x 800, 14.1-inch LCD display, an NVIDIA 9300M GS graphics card with 256MB of RAM, WiFi, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, and HDMI outs. The laptops come in white and pink gold, black, turquoise blue, pink and purple color configurations, though the press release somehow fails to make mention of RAM or hard drive options. Fujitsu is mum on price and release date, but we'd say not too expensive, and fairly soon.

WTF? 256MB of RAM? This thing isn't a netbook, and it definitely isn't going to be running Vista anytime soon.
adam @ Sep 7th 2008 3:40PM
thta's the GPU's memory. it said that there is no mention on memory.
my bet is that it's going to be running vista, but nice try

Fujitsu notebooks looks great but most of them have bad build quality. The worst is their price because it's always over the top expensive.

why don't more computers have hdmi out? is there a good reason for that. it would make (for me at least) using tv's as monitors or just playing movies on my main tv so much easier.
Haikibutsu @ Sep 7th 2008 3:55PM
Although it s more convenient to have an HDMI for TV Out, many monitors are DVI. I'd imagine more people would prefer a more straight connection to a screen they are likely to use all the time, than a connection to a TV which wouldn't be done too often.
DVI to HDMI is more than compatible, Im pretty sure the only difference with HDMI and DVI is HDMI can have sound carried, and the different connector.
I connect my Macbook with a DVI to HDMI cord I got for 5 bux off... I think it was Monoprice. No expensive converters needed. Infact, the 6 foot cable was far cheaper than Apple's overpriced 4 inch long DVI to Mini DVI

Haikibutsu, wouldn't it be better for laptops to have HDMI out ports for connecting to HDTVs and also carrying sound, but then getting a converter to DVI for connecting to a monitor?
Sure you can have a DVI out port instead , but when converted to HDMI via converter, no sound is carried to the HDTV.

L1010? More like the L0101!

No offense to Fujitsu, but am I supposed to be impressed? I've seen nicer notebooks from dell (XPS series) from 1 1/2 ago.

Errr...the pricing was given together with the press release and the launch event held in Singapore.

Yes, the specs too.

Wow, 1.2-1.4k USD for this (unless that price was with taxes included)...
