Voodoo Envy 133 starts shipping, corrugated boxes seen sweating
Not a whole to say that we haven't already summed up in the title, but that hot little Voodoo Envy 133 is finally shipping right about now. A whole host of to-be owners have already received tracking numbers, and some folks have already had the pleasure of peeling away the tape and gettin' busy. So, are you still waiting for yours to leave the dock, or is it already halfway to your abode?

not too shabby...but the shiny black surface will attract smudges like none other

I'd rather something like this where you can wipe it down to make it look nice again then the oil absorbing black macbook (I have one so don't flame me as being a fanboy) that looks like i just ate an entire pizza and let the oil drip all over it.

I'm sure the carbon fiber frame will help with some of that smudging, besides, electronics look sexier in black.

I wish the shipping company would make a mistake and send me one of these. After seeing the Ferrari Red one, I want so much.

I like the wallpaper.
paul @ Sep 10th 2008 1:27AM
I wonder if this will get even hotter than a MBA
Mike @ Sep 10th 2008 2:33AM
The wallpaper would be the first thing I would change.

Sorry, that was meant for Amritannsh below.

Man, that laptop blows me away, the simple, subtle, delightfulo, yet sinful style leaves apple behind by aeons.
Plz where can i get the wallpaper shown on the laptop's screen, i want it badly!!!!
Plz comment.

Man, that's a lot of gloss.

Is this with the original SFF Santa Rosa/Merom, or is it using the new SFF Monetvina/Penryn?
crescentdavid @ Sep 10th 2008 2:16AM
I'm tempted ... even though it doesn't make any financial sense. Re heat: I've seen some videos showing a completely new heat dissipation approach ... as they're planning on discrete graphics down the road.
bidur @ Sep 10th 2008 5:14AM
you can use this also as mirror .. multitask
Joe @ Sep 10th 2008 6:30AM
Is the logo supposed to look like an angry pig or warthog? That's all I can see, spoils it for me.
Still a pretty nice laptop though.

Wow $2000-$3000 for a laptop with the same specs of standard $600 laptops, but with 10x added chance of theft. Thanks.

I'm waiting for some discreet graphics for this computer to make the purchase worthwhile. Can't say I' would want to go without a graphics card of some sort again, although they did run WoW @ 24FPS on Medium on the site.

Enjoy you 1080 pixel horizontal resolution first adopters.

Mine came Monday. I love it. The smudging isn't as bad as I expected. I love the display, keyboard, industrial design.... The battery is awesome. So thin. I don' know about battery life because I've been heads downs. Spore runs well on it. Probably need an external mouse to get the full Spore experience.

Got mine and already started some rigorous game testing on it. Here are some photos:

...while Team Fortress 2 did run... it wasn't the best gameplay I have ever seen. However, I have also tested Sins of a Solar Empire and the Political Machine 2008 of which both run flawlessly.
Gonna test a whole slew of games throughout the week.

I am trying to get a fix on when the alienware m15x went into production in china. I saw the bios on one say 3.2007 chips set..on a 2008 model.
I understand they are essentially reworked clevos, so I am eying getting straight from the sources either a more solidly built sager from xoticpc or an mtech which are using ddr3 ram and sata3 hardrives and the cooler running monte...gee I forgot the spelling..:) The voodoo looks sweet..but I am still looking at the pefrormance data.a I dont want to spend more than 2500 usd.
I need the info on production versus the availability as I am researching deceptive marketing practices and the timing of the AW production shipping and then availability to public.
They were announced in oct and november of 2007
For those in the "know" here..
Perhaps the question should be when and where was the first series of aw m15x actually made.
Thanx to any trivia masters out there!
:)
