MSI's Wind U90 gets unboxed on video
You've seen the Wind U90 MSI has wanted you to see -- you know, that version it brings to trade shows, possibly showered and cleaned up by professionals beforehand. But the U90 you're about to see in the video past the break is the real deal. Ordered from Canada and shipped to the US of A, this 8.9-inch Wind looks pretty much exactly like its larger-screened sibling save for a bigger bezel and a few French symbols on the keyboard. But why listen to us spell it out when you can just click through and mash play?

Not bad.
looks like it has a clunky desktop type keyboard ..
dear engadget, use &fmt=18 to end of video link to increase quality, thanks
Dear 123431,
Capitalize the first letter of your sentence and end it with a period to increase writing quality. Thanks.

If you two don't stop fighting back there so help me I'll turn this thing around and there will be no Wind for ANYBODY!
I'll say it again, fat and ugly bezel!
NO KIDDING.
WTF year is this? Bezels like this went out in 1994. Seriously, who do they think they're fooling?
It had better be noticeably cheaper to get this instead of the U100 model!
seeing as he never came back, does that mean it never booted up?
Please please get rid of the bilingual keyboard. Those enter keys are freaking retarded and HIGHLY annoying!
Don't get your panties in a wad, Andrew. When it is released in the US, it will have a US keyboard. As this was purchased from Canada, it has a Canadian keyboard. Or do you think that every country should use the US layout?

Do you live in Canada? I doubt it
Only a handful of laptops up here come with a bilingual keyboard. I know some french people who even despise the keyboard layout. Why change the entire layout of the keyboard when the majority of the population wants a normal keyboard? This sort of thing deters me away from buying the Acer and the Winds. Asus doesn't use the bilingual keyboards, Dell doesn't, HP doesn't. Just because we have some french speaking people up here doesn't mean every keyboard sold is bilingual. Please get your facts straight.
I really hope Linux only takes that long to boot the first time, I booted my Wind into Vista in a lot less time than it took his to get from when he turned it on to the end of the video.
--BUT it DOES have....
Yeah, I tried SuSE once too ;)
'it's a very good version of linux'
I suppose that's true whether or not you can say it right, but then, the only distros people /can/ pronounce are foresight, mint, and puppy.
SuSE is German. A German I know pronounces it "Sooza". That's good enough for me. :-)
Who the hell took that ?!! Is this like Mr. BlurryCam Jr. ?
What's the point of getting the 8.9" screen version if the physical size of the unit is the same? It's essentially the 10" version, except harder to see the details on the screen.
If I were to pay for the 8.9" version, I would want a smaller machine than the 10".
MSI SUCK , ASUS ROCK
OMG Dude, buy yourself a trypod!
And any simple video app that lets you cut things...
I can't believe the length of time you make us watch the camera just wobbling around infront of the closed box...
The bilingual keyboard is pretty annoying on the Acer Aspire because the keyboard is so small, I assume it is will also be a problem with the wind.
Just think if they only offered a bilingual Spanish/English keyboard in the US.
I bought one of these just last week and so far I'm very happy, and don't miss the extra 1" of screen. Sure the bezel is larger, but at C$359 it is at least $150 cheaper than the 10" model, *and* it comes with a larger hard drive (120GB vs. 80GB)! The SUSE linux sucked so the first thing I did was replace it with OS X86, which boots up very quickly and runs shockingly fast even on just 512MB RAM. The U90 is far and away the best value of the Wind line if you're planning on doing any mods.
