VAIO TT specs leak out
Well, the VAIO TT didn't make its rumored appearance today, but specs for the TZ replacement showed up on Sony's VAIO Adviser tool, and things are looking good -- particularly the top-of-the-line VGN-TT190UBX, which sports a 1.4GHz SU9400 Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM, Blu-ray burner, HDMI out and 128GBx2 RAID SSD storage in a 2.87-pound package. Yeah, we'll take three. The other configs aren't quite as smoking hot, but you're looking at 11.1-inch screens, 160GB hard drives, 1.2GHz SU9300 Core 2 Duo processors, and Vista Home Premium all the way around. Too bad we don't have prices, pictures, or release dates yet, but we're guessing we'll find out lots more soon.

I like the resolution ..
phanbouy @ Sep 22nd 2008 2:47PM
yeah, QVGA Sucks guy will be pleased
Craig Tucker @ Sep 22nd 2008 2:50PM
Same res as my 720p TV. Oddly enough, had a hell of a time getting my old Vaio laptop to output 1366x768, would be nice to have them share a native res.

Damn... Now I'm thinking about canceling my Dell Latitude E4200 order... That's quite a bit more hardware for only 0.5 lbs extra.
tom @ Sep 22nd 2008 3:01PM
Nice try, the added feature will be reflected in price tag as well.
Jason Litka @ Sep 22nd 2008 3:07PM
Yeah, it probably will. The E4200 was expensive enough, even after my discount. I can't imagine what Sony will charge for two 128GB SSDs and a carbon fiber lid... My guess is that the top-end will start around $4k...

keep pimping that website hard, fast, and deep

Well, I must admit, the new design that Sony is going with here is absolutely horrible. Looks like a chart in Excel.
phanbouy @ Sep 22nd 2008 3:09PM
yeah but it's saved to a fancy schmancy Office 2007(TM) Excel(TM) *.xlsx file now with new Nonbackwards Compatibility
holycow @ Sep 22nd 2008 3:59PM
they are going green... making the thinnest laptop ever and that too made out of recycled paper!
vijay @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:45PM
Yup, the owners of VAIO get prepared to dump them in ur recycle BIN!!!
Jeff @ Sep 22nd 2008 3:15PM
Yeah the website could use a little work, looks like it was pieced together in Netscape Communicator Gold HTML editor.

Serial 8-Ball Mouse @ Sep 22nd 2008 3:44PM
More like DRABBER design. BADA-BING!
leapingmadly @ Sep 22nd 2008 3:59PM
Refer to the Sony Insider link for the full specs, as the "Read" link has now been corrected by Sony.
Steve Jobs @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:14PM
Compromising on the display and keyboard.... typical Sony...
Macbook Air is cheaper and better.
cesium @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:52PM
No.
Chin-Poh @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:27PM
No thanks Mr. Jobs, your precious MBA isn't an ultraportable to me, its too large in footprint. I'm sorry you define it as such just because its so thin. It needs to have a small footprint as well. I'd rather get a slightly thicker 13" laptop with much more functionality. You may need to slide your MBA under a door but I have no need of that.
I would like to have more than one USB port, a memory card reader, ethernet port, DVD drive all built-in and in a smaller case and lighter weight.
I must admit for an anti Apple fanboy, your Ipod Touch/IPhone look quite appealing. : )
Michael @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:22PM
Wow! now thats what i call a laptop, for that size i dont think anything else on the market comes close....shame they couldnt have squeezed a centrino2 in there as well :P...
Chin-Poh @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:23PM
Um, it IS Centrino 2, using an ultra low voltage processor however.
boe @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:44AM
Dang - so close to being interested till I saw the processor speed and crappy integrated video. I guess I'll keep my old laptop at least another 6 months or a year depending on something with similar form factor includes a fast processor and video.

If it only had a touchscreen....
