Eco Media Revolution keeps the wind-up PMP alive
Just like gasoline-powered automobiles, the Li-ion-powered DAP is a fading gem. Okay, so maybe that's grossly inaccurate, but at least it gives us a warm fuzzy feeling to think that Trevor Baylis' Eco Media Player Revolution has a sizable budding fan base. The follow-up to the smashing Ecodigital wind-up PMP takes on a glossy black motif and features 4GB of built-in storage space, an SD card slot for capacity expansion, an FM tuner and support for a whole litany of audio / video formats. Best of all, you can connect your dead mobile to this thing, give it a few cranks, and boom -- your cellie now has enough juice to make one very urgent call for more lunch money. Sure justifies the £129.99 ($241) asking price, huh?

Personal fav engadget post! FTW
Hush @ Sep 24th 2008 1:17PM
I retract that statement. It was good, not a personal fav though.

If every phone came with this, I would feel a lot safer (just think, middle of nowhere, dead battery)
MarcC @ Sep 24th 2008 10:36AM
wind it up and look, no signal ..... :(
rhodesy @ Sep 24th 2008 10:43AM
This can charge your phone though which is cool too
konshuss @ Sep 24th 2008 2:50PM
@rhodesy: wow way to break the story.
iEye @ Sep 24th 2008 10:24AM
Hey, this solves the problem of Astronauts keeping PMP's charged while they are on that long elevator rode to the moon!

Just got mine from Ethical Superstore

fanman @ Sep 24th 2008 10:43AM
Still manufactured using plastics and lithium ions though right?
kjb434 @ Sep 24th 2008 11:09AM
The fact that something like Ethical Superstore exists show how easily people can be guilted into by products.....
rhodesy @ Sep 24th 2008 11:35AM
Nah it shows that people care about their impact on the world around them.
telepheedian @ Sep 24th 2008 12:30PM
Rhodesy is one of those people.
fanman @ Sep 24th 2008 12:35PM
No, it proves how gullible people are if they think this will actually make a difference or even help.
Hush @ Sep 24th 2008 1:16PM
Well at least it won't waste batteries for landfills. I like how the green post got low ranked. That's hilarious. Seriously though everything has a cycle. I'm sick of hearing everything is green in the media. Can't wait for that fad to end and enter the destroy everything for fuel fad.
fanman @ Sep 24th 2008 4:09PM
This has a rechargable battery in it that will go to landfill. So does my iPod.
404 @ Sep 24th 2008 12:04PM
I was all for buying one of these until I saw the price.
Convenient, renewable energy: saving the planet one wallet at a time!
Alex @ Sep 24th 2008 2:01PM
er... would rather get a Devotec Solar Charger for 20Quid. Could buy an Ipod and still be cheaper than this thing...
