Thrustmaster thrusts Wii Glow Saber, Dual Trigger Gun accessories in our direction
It's admittedly difficult to take a company named Thrustmaster seriously (especially on casual Friday), but given that it has recently pumped out what are likely the two best Wiimote accessories of all time, we'll give it a pass this go 'round. Speaking of, we'd like to point out that these two have been around the block a time or two, but that doesn't make the red and blue dueling Glow Sabers (each packing 17 LEDs, mind you) and the Dual Trigger Gun (complete with Nunchuck holster!) any less gnarly. The Glow Saber 2-pack is available right about now for $34.99, while the Dual Trigger Gun (shown after the break) should land in short order for $17.99.

HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON
let me get this straight. a company called thrustmaster is putting out a smooth plastic shaft, that vibrates no less, and is marketing it to kids.
this just screams

V3xx:
"Thrustmaster" got their name from making components for flight simulation enthusiasts. Particularly throttles that control the *thrust* of a virtual aircraft.

@J. Evans: I remember, I had a couple thrustmaster sticks back in the day. But you gotta admit this is pretty hilarious. This ranks right up there with the Nerf Crotchbat.

Yep, just what we need.
There are now officialy more Wii add-ons then there are games.
Metkis @ Sep 27th 2008 4:04AM
It's like the iPod docks of gaming.

Mind you, these are all unlicensed third-party pieces of shit. By comparison, Nintendo's arguably useless wheel is free with "Mario Kart" and still markedly superior to the others. The AWESOME Zapper peripheral comes free with "Link's Crossbow Training", which is the best $15 USD I spent on a Wii game.
Stores can't seem to figure out the MSRP on "Link's Crossbow Training" with the Zapper accessory. They charge $19.99 every day at many retailers, and $24.99 at others.

The embarrassment might make you Wii yourself.
brad @ Sep 27th 2008 5:08PM
thats "Wii-dicule" and "Wii-diculous"
J. Evans Turner @ Sep 27th 2008 9:40PM
Nix all those ™'s. There are enough bozos already who make no distinction between unlicensed junk and official accessories. These cash-in manufacturers go all out to confuse people with their package designs.
Ian @ Sep 27th 2008 4:05AM
The colour scheme of that plastic gun makes it look similar to an electric toothbrush or something.
Blackstar @ Sep 27th 2008 4:10AM
Wii Toothbrush™ is free with 3 Wii Proofs of Purchase.

You have never heard of Thrustmaster? They started out making flight simulator controllers for computers back in the day...hence the name.
Hat @ Sep 30th 2008 4:35PM
I was thinking thrustmaster was a pretty good brand. I remember seeing a lot of their stuff when I was looking at flight sim stuff back in the day. If I remember correctly it was good quality and $$$

Wii power glove comming soon. You heard it here first folks

Sad to see what Thrustmaster has sunk into these days...
Those of you that have been flight sim fans for the last 20 years will know what I mean...
ssrat_ @ Sep 27th 2008 5:23AM
They used to have the BEST controllers and the VERY best support, if something EVER broke they would not only send out ONE part to replace it but usually a SPARE as well.
I can't remember who owns them now but ever since the takeover they shifted to less quality parts (charged the same) and then froze development for a number of years.
The only thing that seemed to keep them on par with everyone else was the introduction of GOOD gamepads to the PC, and the utter stagnation of the peripheral controller sector.
I remember that there was a time that FF Joysticks were leading the way in development and we were right around the corner from getting non gimmicky FF (good pressure feedback)
Thankfully wheels kept FF moving ahead, but it is REAL hard to find a good set of joystick/throttle WITH FF without having to try mix and matching.

I agree... One of the buttons broke on my flight stick.. the tech there goes "Do you know how to solder?" I was like hellz yeah. He sent me 4 buttons, a coolie hat, and a thrustmaster decal with a note that said "Should be everything to refresh your flight stick. Thanks Thrustmaster" Fixed in 3 days. No RMA BS. When the bungie cord in my nascar wheel broke. Sent me 2 replacements.
Almost anyone who played mech warrior ran these sticks..

Wow. LightSaber, I had it on my iPhone. !
smncameron @ Sep 28th 2008 9:41PM
It's not a Lightsaber, it's a Glowsaber. They're nothing alike.
smallplanet @ Sep 27th 2008 7:33AM
A friend of my wife was...er.....wondering if you thought the shafts might deteriorate if KY jelly was used on them.........?
Darkflame @ Sep 27th 2008 9:09AM
Yo know, a bit of effort and you could make a completely independant game using Wiimotes.
A low cost bluetooth reciever, some IR points, and simple counter system and you got yourself a lazer-tag tag.
The signals from the Wiimote are pretty easy to process. (http://www.rateoholic.co.uk/ResultPages/get_and_display_review.php?reviewid=388) About the only tricky thing would be identifying scoreing for more then 2 players, IR's flashing in pre-devided sequences could do that though.
If companys actualy looked at what they could do with wiimotes other then putting plastic shells around them we might get some decent stuff.
Wooger @ Sep 27th 2008 10:42AM
Well heres a guy that hooked it up to his computer and played an FPS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK9AGpI38tw
The wiimote is easy enough to mod, its just that most people who have the technical expertise to do so are probably past the lazertag age.
All im saying is that if you can hook it up to a computer its only a matter of time.

The only thing missing from this is the dolphin that pops out of the side of the light saber.
Clum Babies - Drawn Together
"The housemates are startled by a commotion inside the house. They enter to find the kitchen completely trashed, and Wooldoor humping everything in sight. Foxxy explains that Wooldoor has finally reached puberty, and realizing he needs an outlet for his newfound urges, she teaches him how to masturbate."
Eric @ Sep 27th 2008 11:32AM
I've seen these before, but they were just white... they didn't have actual Star Wars-style lightsaber bits.
El Taco @ Sep 27th 2008 2:47PM
I'm liking the dual trigger gun. Possibly the best one yet if you ask me. that is, if the nunchuck part is detatchable for games that dont use it
DHG @ Sep 29th 2008 8:58PM
Actually, Thrustmaster is a great company and has made some kickass joysticks for a long time. Haven't seen these in person, but I hope they rock
