Sony makes the JS1 and sister laptop NS1 official
Remember that slick new Sony all-in-one desktop we spied at CEDIA and saw reviewed recently? Well the company has gotten all official on it, as well as a new, affordably-priced laptop... and we've got the details. The latter -- dubbed the NS1 -- sports an Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 15.4-inch, 1280 x 800 X-black display, 320GB hard drive, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3430 graphics chipset, a Blu-ray combo drive, and 802.11a/b/g/n. The JS1 desktop features an Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 CPU, 3GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, a 20.1-inch, 1680 x 1050 X-black display, Intel GMA X4500HD graphics, and 802.11b/g/n. No word on price or release date for the two models, but you'll know when we do. Check out a few more pics after the break.

We just got these in at Best Buy
The build quality feels really cheap, and the whole design in my opinion is just bland.
The mouse is featherweighted and the apple-spaced keyboard may take some design cues, but forgot to add the all too useful USB port on the kayboard.
Also the specs leave it a bit underpowered... and I think it's not cool that hey just repackage their laptop parts into a desktop (even though a lot of all-in-one pc's are) BUT including the lame laptop popout optical drive amongst its slot loading competition.
BUT IT PLAYS BLURAY??- So what, a lot of better products do too.
I've never liked all-in-ones, but this one is a very clean package, and the fact of the matter is, they suit many peoples' lives.
It used to be that the average person replaced their computer every few years and it would be nice to keep your monitor between refreshes, but now I feel like both are on a similar schedule.
My mom wanted to buy a Mac, so I helped her buy a new iMac with a 20" screen. The #1 thing for me was making sure she was okay with the aluminum KB (I have one and am getting used to it), Mighty Mouse (I hate it, but she liked it), and screen size. The machine is plenty powerful (dual-core 2.4ghz, 3GB of ram). My parents are still using my dad's ancient almost-10-year-old PC, so I can't imagine that the iMac would be 'too slow' for at least 5 years; if anything, the screen size might start seeming small after 5 years.
These days people keep their computers longer, and when it's time to upgrade your system, you'll probably want the latest display technology. For those who aren't particularly technically inclined, I think all-in-ones are finally ready for prime time.
I work at a Best Buy and I put this all-in-one on display today. It is available for sale today. I believe the preice was $1,399.00
The desktop looks fantastic, around as good as the iMac. I don't know why people are saying it's an iMac ripoff. It's not. However, the tray of the BR drive is probably prone to snapping. It doesn't look sturdy at all. Make a slot-loading drive!
And despite who had the separated keyboard keys first, the overall aesthetics of the keyboard is definitely "Apple inspired".
