HP's got the
Special Edition itch again, and it's scratching it with both hands as evidenced by the newest dv4t and dv5t SE notebooks. Starting with the former, we've got a flashily designed 14.1-incher with a WXGA panel, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a handful of Core 2 Duo CPU choices, NVIDIA's 512MB GeForce 9200M GS, up to 400GB of hard drive space, WiFi, optional WWAN and an integrated HDTV hybrid tuner. The equally fashionable Pavilion dv5t SE sports a 15.4-inch LCD, a GMA4500MHD integrated graphics set, optional Blu-ray writer and most everything already mentioned on its smaller sibling. You can snatch either of these up for $1,099.99 / $949 (or higher) right now, but we'd make sure you
really dig the tattoos before making a decision you'll regret forever.

so the 14" one gets a GeForce 9200 while the 15" one gets an intel GMA (even though the non-special ed can take a GeForce 9600)...
that is what the article said, isn't it
exactly what I thought
THAT THING CAN RUN CRYSIS !
I'm buyin !
i have a dv5t (non SE) with 2.4Ghz C2D, 2GB RAM, and the 9600M GT. it runs Crysis quite well at 1280x800 and medium/high settings. the only thing i want more in that laptop is Nvidia's hybrid SLI for switchable graphics. the 9600M GT kills battery life.
yeah i have no idea why they have only integrated graphics in the "special edition" of the dv5t.
test
Doesn't seem worth it
WTF!?
I guess HP hates the dv5t cuz for the life of me I cannot fathom why they made the special edition look so ugly. And to add insult to injury it only has integrated graphics?
Again wow....?
Anyways I'm waiting for my HDX 18t. Can't wait.
It looks like they spilt something on it and couldn't be bothered to clean it up.
I have a dv5t, I just got it at the end of august. My dv5t I got for $976 easily beats that one, with the 9600m gt and a 1680x1050 screen. No blu ray and only 3gb of ram, but still I would choose mine over that one any day.
i got one too. we should be friends.
it's a very nice laptop. the 9600M GT performs spectacularly but kills battery life.
also the special edition can be configured with a WSXGA display, though you still only have integrated graphics to run it.
ps when is Nvidia's Hybrid SLI coming to laptops?
the photo should have been taken from a slightly higher angle so there's more focus on the graphics on the keyboard rather than the temporary screensaver. this is like putting a fake tattoo on one arm and a real one on your other arm and then showing off the fake one.
I really love ornate laptops (the gothic pattern on the back of one of the VAIOs, and the croc texture one, is really cool), but HP has really gotten out of hand with this crap.
Shiny
Jeez that dv5t special edition with the integrated graphics is pathetic.....i got a regular dv5t a few weeks ago with a 2.8ghz core 2 and 512mb 9600m gt and it is fast as hell
Wonderful config for a good price !!! But I dont want a 15" inch, looking for a small little EeePC-like netbook......
pixeljunk eden limited edition laptop!!!
considering that 2 of my friends bought HP notebooks last year and both of them died from overheating I am really not an unbiased person. But the HP special edition series are really getting out of hand. First Voodoo decides that they can make and ultra expensive sub-mainstream notebook ( performance wise ) and now HP decides that special edition is kinda like special ed ...
I got one of the dv4t SE with a coupon I got from www.thecouponbay.com/hp-coupon that was not supposed to be working on them but somehow it worked, chopped $400 off it. So it was really cool!
