I have to wonder if that isn't the point -- get part of Apple's product margin by undercutting them, while still overpricing it.
i don't know, I'm not tracking this segment of the notebook market, but it does seem a little overpriced. And the look did make me wonder (before I read the headline) if this was another fanboy rumor.

Think of the first thing a person new to computers would ask for, its "how bigz is the hard drive?" or "duz it haz a fingherprints readerer?".
Toshiba is taking away the MBP market (the very small one) by selling a PC that looks as though it has better specifications for less price, when really they've cut out things that a normal consumer WOULDN'T look for, such as the dedicated graphics. You gotta think in terms of Toshiba not the customer.

Why does this cost so much? The gpu is pretty bad, the display is kinda low, it has an awesome processor and way to much ram and storage.

I agree. Where's that discrete GPU? Compared to a MBP the price does look attractive though.
