Asus intros WiMAX-equipped M50Vm-A1WM 15.4 incher
A new variant of Asus' M50Vm-A1 laptop -- the M50Vm-A1WM -- just showed up on Newegg and Amazon. Soulcrushingly long (mostly) alphanumeric string aside, it's a decent 15.4'' machine for its $1,399 price point, with desktop replacement specs: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400, 4GB of RAM, a GeForce 9600M with a satisfying 1GB of dedicated graphics memory, and even a numpad. What's new here is onboard WiMAX, which puts Asus on the post-XOHM launch bandwagon with Toshiba, Acer and other laptop manufacturers. This is good news for some lucky early adopters, but if you're not in one of the testing locales, you might as well continue twiddling your thumbs.

Repeat, repeat, repetition, I see the bright lights, it's the month of July, it's violent here, why have you left me? If only you could stay and keep me in, it's violent here, why did you run from me?
Two questions: 1, what are you smoking? And 2, can I have some?
The same thing the guy who named this thing was smoking.

i loves teh Asus, all ma best compys are Asus.
That has got to be one of the ugliest laptops I've seen in a long time.
Well then, what notebook made by Asus depicts beauty and sexy to you? We're talking Asus here...the constantly erupting naming on engadget...:P I think this is not a bad notebook...I just don't like the num pad on the side... and the 15.4 is quite huge for me...even though I'm typing on a 15 inch from Mr. Lenovo/IBM
As I type on my Asus M50V-somethingorother (I never could memorize the exact alphanumeric code), I can truly say she is an amazing machine. I wish her battery life was a bit better, but other than that, she's perfect. I'm glad I picked her out. The numberpad is invaluable for typing data into excel spreadsheets (something I didn't forsee having to do when I bought the machine earlier for engineering.)
Anyways; she's actually pretty attractive; I've had quite a few compliments; the gloss is a tad much, but she's actually fairly unassuming while not being unattractive.
I have a model just like this and it's amazing!
Asus makes amazing computer products and the laptops are nothing short than amazing!!!
They have me hooked and would buy another one any time!!!
And i thought that the "A" in there was for Atom..
How much HD space....? And battery life...?
I love this one... except for its a 15" inch... I want a 10" inch - 13" inch...
Really ugly touch pad. Really ugly laptop, should have refined their old MBP-like black models of yesteryear much nicer !
I'm going to have to agree with Adam and Kyle Adam. I'm a big big fan of Asus equipment and while no company can completely satisfy everyone they do an excellent job. Since this particular model is equipped with a rather large graphic memory perhaps they felt using a smaller screen would give you no real appreciation for it's graphic power.
Screen brightness will be make or break here for me. My A8Js had a very poor brightness, about 120cd/m^2. After my 250-300cd/m^2 MBP I'm never going back to something under 250.
