Intel concedes ARM's superiority over Atom, fake iPhone crisis averted
When low-level Intel execs throw down a verbal assault on Silicon Valley-buds Apple, guess what the result is? Fake fight! Fortunately, Intel's Anand Chandrasekher just stepped in, referee-style, and dropped the retraction hammer on his loose-lipped, ARM-bashing underlings with the following correction:
[Via cnet news]
"Intel's low-power Atom processor does not yet match the battery life characteristics of the ARM processor in a phone form factor; and, that while Intel does have plans on the books to get us to be competitive in the ultra low power domain - we are not there as yet. Secondly, Apple's iPhone offering is an extremely innovative product that enables new and exciting market opportunities. The statements made in Taiwan were inappropriate, and Intel representatives should not have been commenting on specific customer designs."So... friends, or are we doomed to repeat the whole toasted bunny thing again?

Guess Intel got cold feet and wanted to avoid the wrath of his Steviness.
Those intel execs are so not going to get their bonus this year.
Unless they get a government bail out...
I want to see the angry one liner Steve jobs fired off to intel.
It surely read something like:
"nVidia chipsets, bitches!
- xoxo, Steve"
"Nvidia Chipsets > Intel Chipsets
Fix that and _maybe_ we'll go through the headache of switching yet another product to x86. On second thought, nevermind.
-Steve
BTW I'm totally not sick."
Is somewhat along the lines of what the email must have been.
How about:
"We're buying Dell on Monday.
Then we're thinking about switching all PC/Mac CPUs to AMDs.
I hope you have very good retirement plans.
Steve"
I think this ought to be the ultimate cold sweat generator for Intel.
Stevie must of phoned Intel HQ and told them to keep there F***ing mouth closed.
"Last time we used on of your "ultra-small" processors, our laptops exploded. Suck my PowerCock G1"
I'm surpised this is such a big deal. I bet the "low level" guy got his ass chewed out. We're all human and we sometimes make mistakes.
But ARE we all human? ... or are we dancers?
An ironic statement coming from a caveman.
@Podaman
Unfortunately, I don't get your reference. Link please?
Not a rickroll, though you may prefer it... brace yourself.

Thumbs up to you Podaman, as funny as the song is, the comments debating the lyrics are even funnier.
are we not men?
in soviet russia rick roll you
You don't look human, you look more like a caveman...
They should make a rap video
hoho
Hats off to Intel for setting the record straight and correcting mistakes. That takes guts, even when you are a big company.
its always good to when a mega corp admits wrong doing and adhears to the facts....
You mean crysis?
You can't do much without an ARM.
Can't do much without a Wii either......
Um, did I go crazy or did I just see a high level executive TAKE responsibility and then go on to acknowledge his companies own shortcomings only to then praise another's innovation? Who knows maybe there are some people of integrity up there.
Nah, Steve doesn't need to be that explicit;). A simple "WTF???" would have been more than enough to get his point across and make several people at Intel fear for their heads.
And where AMD?? I want AMD in the fake-fight!
Damn I love that album! (Saturday Lo-fi playing...)
Anyone who knows where I can get this poster in full res which is shown in the article?
Nothing strange, Arm is for a very different market than Atom, both are portable but only one can fit in your pocket while the other can do floating point processing, mmx and sse via hardware.
Atom bomb?
