Walmart exclusive Xbox 360 controller has dragon, lady
There's nothing super special about this exclusive-to-Walmart Xbox 360 controller, other than the fact that it's adorned with a ferociously awesome dragon, a beautiful lady, and an old-timey telephone, and it comes bundled with a terrifyingly hideous headset -- but we bet your new Xbox Experience avatar will appreciate the effort you put into sprucing the place up before his / her arrival. It's on sale now and can be yours for $49.74.

This is nice, but, I'm the type of person who likes the OEM look.
If I bought this, it would be for a second controller and the replacement mic.
Alex @ Oct 29th 2008 8:46AM
Olde Timey telephone FTW!!! Wooo!
Boarderwoot @ Oct 29th 2008 8:14AM
Thanks, but no thanks. I don't want to come home to something that screams "do you want fries with that?" I hear enough of that at work.
gjp303 @ Oct 29th 2008 9:43PM
So, you work at McDonalds, or does your company just like to eat?
From My Cube @ Oct 29th 2008 8:20AM
do all new headsets have that better on/off switch for the mic?
Backlin @ Oct 29th 2008 8:43AM
Yeah, it looks like the new headsets are compatible with more than Xbox 360 controllers.
Scotty Doo @ Oct 29th 2008 8:24AM
Pretty nice.
Still wish they'd bring out a wireless adapter in black so that i don't have a little white box that looks like a stationary rubber stuck to the back of my Xbox Elite.
And a black universal media remote while you're at it please MS.
Flashpoint @ Oct 29th 2008 8:31AM
When the Elite came out, I wondered if M$ would make matching accessories for it. They let me down.
First of all, the wifi adapter is bullshit. 360 is the only system on the block without built in WiFi. This was forgivable at launch, but I expected the "pro" to do better than that.
Its bad enough that the redesigned 360's lack of HDDVD built in basically decided the outcome of the format war between HDDVD and Blu Ray.
But what pisses me off is that the Adapter is still $99. I got it for $89 + tax in 2006. Now I can't use it because it doesn't work with my Verizon Actiontech Router for FIOS. I do use it when I go over other people's houses for Lan games.
Kenjis9965 @ Oct 29th 2008 8:58AM
Er..well some users, like me, really couldnt give a rats ass about Wi-Fi and would rather not have it in there so the cost is kept down...
Besides, what about Nintendo? No way in hell am i spending even $30 just to connect my wii to the interwebs because I use ethernet for everything, thats more ass-backwards than not including wi-fi in my book
Why people dont just grab a nice long ethernet cable and shutup and deal with the fact its run across their house or something to enjoy the benefits of no-drop outs and no-connection issues and no interference i do not know..
comineeyeaha @ Oct 29th 2008 3:11PM
@ Kenjis9965
For most people out there coming across that much ethernet without paying hundreds of dollars just isn't possible. Sure, lots of us (myself included) know a guy or have access to make any length cable we want, but have you ever gone into a big box retailer and seen the price of those cables? It's absurd! For the price of 1 100' cable you could buy a box of 1000 feet, and the crimping tool, and the connectors. Most people just don't want to be bothered with all of that.
Zorque @ Oct 29th 2008 9:07AM
Looks pretty cool, it's a shame I'd have to give Wal-Mart money (and drive 45 minutes to the nearest one) to get it.
tealfixie @ Oct 29th 2008 11:31AM
i like having the microphone toggle on the actual jack so that i dont have to take my hands of the controller to mute the damn thing.
UnixSystemsEngineer @ Oct 29th 2008 11:34AM
Wow! Only gamers lucky enough to have a WalMart in their town will have this rare accessory!
TravisO @ Oct 29th 2008 11:54AM
You make it sound like there are only a couple Walmarts spread here and there, you do realize that almost no matter where you live, you have a Walmart within a 20min drive or less, unless you live in a forrest.

There was a way to show them all on Google maps but I forget the syntax.
comineeyeaha @ Oct 29th 2008 3:12PM
sounds like somebody missed the sarcasm.

Where's the image of the wizard and wolf standing next to a small, dead tree with stormclouds in the background?

I have some tipe for you... The Wireless Adapter does indeed work w/FiOS ActionTec Router. I have had FiOS for about 2 years now and I have used it with the old and new smaller ActionTec router. Let me know if you want some help.
ant_ @ Oct 29th 2008 1:01PM
Does it come with the fixed D-pad? That's the real story here.
comineeyeaha @ Oct 29th 2008 3:16PM
Everytime a gamer mentions the d-pad being broken god kills a kitten.
I have never had a problem with the d-pad, and I use it a lot.
ant_ @ Oct 29th 2008 4:04PM
Try playing Street Fighter 2 with it. It just doesn't have the precision one needs and its quite frustrating.
Stevey 1337 @ Oct 29th 2008 6:22PM
If the heavens open and Marvel Vs Capcom 2 is released on XBLA, THEN you will never hear the end of the d-pad complaints.
giantenemycrab @ Oct 29th 2008 4:16PM
Don't know why, but I rather like it. Usually I find this kind of stuff tacky, but not this thing. I'm actually tempted to buy it considering I need both a new controller and headset.
shibby @ Oct 29th 2008 4:36PM
Or for less than half the price you can get a skin just like that (if you design it yourself) from mytego, skip the trip to walmart, and then remove it whenever you don't want it anymore.
Peter @ Oct 29th 2008 5:23PM
not so always low prices now.
