HTC's official Fuze page shows up... kinda
If you had any lingering doubt that HTC's US, GSM version of the Touch Pro (AKA the Fuze) was headed to AT&T in the near future, you can probably take a deep breath. Thanks to an eagle-eyed tipster, we're now able to view HTC's official page for the device, although it looks like they may not be done with all the coding, as an image of the Tilt is still being used as a placeholder. There's no mention of release date, though we do learn that the device will sport AT&T's Cellular Video and Mobile Music services, and a "unique AT&T defined 5 row slide out / slide away QWERTY keyboard," which definitely means nothing at all. Hit the read link if you don't believe us, but for goodness' sake -- you should see someone about that paranoia.

Awsome. The phone looks pretty good IMO.
Except for the real keyboard, it only adds about 50 points of failure to the phone, hard to clean, small keys, bulk phone etc.
iPhone has proven the virtual keyboard is the best, really, I am not even considering such real-keyboard phones anymore. I am looking forward to the phones like the new long 'iPhone-like thing' from Intel, that could be of some real threat or competition to the Jesus phone.
Um how would that long phone concept be practical...the point is mobility, that is mos def not mobility at its finest. Does the iPhon really have that much of a cult following. Their virtual keyboard will forever be pure bull until they make it possible to type text horizontally. Instict does it, BB Storm does...yet iPhone does not. Isnt this supposed to be the superior phone....
"unique AT&T defined 5 row slide out / slide away QWERTY keyboard," which definitely means nothing at all"
Compared to the other GSM Touch Pro and the Sprint Touch Pro, the keyboard IS different. The top rows on those are numbers, where on the Fuze they are symbols and the numbers require the use of a function button to hit.
I also like how they refuse to explain why they went with this annoying layout... i dont dial from the qwerty much, but its the thought that counts!
@Ray:
That "annoying layout" is something I prefer over having numbers lined in a row at the top. Have you ever typed on one of these with your thumbs? I've had both styles, and much prefer having the numbers under one thumb while typing. It's not really about dialing so much as it's easier to type them when you need to (editing contact info, typing dates, addresses, etc.).
That's what they picked up on? How about "Experience the Reaction"? That really doesn't mean anything at all. It doesn't even make sense!
Slogans nowadays just suck. "Experience","Synergy","Innovation","Revolution". Just muddle them up and add some conjunctions and you have a slogan!
"The At&t Touch Pro, Synergize the Innovation."
Release date is Tuesday, November 11th... and that's as concrete as can be but you didn't hear that from me! :)
Anonymous, you crafty tipster, you!
hey, you're not Anonymoose!
it also mentions the tv-out functionality on the specs page. a lot of people were wondering if at&t would gimp this...
na the tv out is an extra cable you need to buy. keep in mind thou that the Pro is not a PMP...it won;t play movies smoothly. The tv out is more for Powerpoint/slide show presentations.
Who says it won't, it has a GPU, and the CPU/RAM to handle it...
of course, it might not, but you can't see that without using it.
How does it quell doubt? There is no release date .. it could just be the marketing dept. did these pages .. but the release cancellation etc. may be happening in a different department than marketing.
Look at the Xperia, the clowns at the executive level of Sony don't think it'll be a successful phone so they've been delaying it (probably will cancel it soon), but the phone is still hyped by marketing.
But at least the screen isn't QVGA, am I right brah'?
doesn't QVGA suck?
I'm using my upgrade for this, hope its good. I wonder if att will lock it down to the point i hate it? I hope i can use regular mp3z as ring tones and bluetooth to my pc, as long as i can do that, i am happy
Its an HTC windows mobile phone so im sure within a few months their will be plenty of roms you can use if you dont like at&ts.
I have the Sprint version, and you can use your mp3's as ringtones and the bluetooth works pretty good....
This phone has been out for months. There are already many cooked ROMs out there.
Why did they have to change the keyboard? The whole point of the 5th row was to have numbers without the damn function key every time
Why the big deal about this phone now and not when it came out for Sprint? I've been playing with my Touch Pro for a solid week now. If AT&T's version has all the same functionality, then plan to enjoy it!
gsm vs cdma
or maybe color
personal preferences
Because this is not the Ugly version like Sprint's.
put the better keyboard back on it,
give it a bigger touch screen,
and put android on it.
then i'll buy it.
bonus points if it can do both at&t and t-mobile 3g.
Check out WMExperts for a hands on video of the Fuze.
What are they waiting on? Can't wait...
And they took it back down....
@Abuzar Baloach
its no different than the sprint one besides the different keyboard, but i havent seen the back yet. I have the diamond and I love it to death, easily best phone I have every had and I've had alot. So with the keyboard im sure it can only get better, Glad to see a gsm version hit the shores earlier than expected
this looks great looks like a tilt with better styling and some performance upgrades, gonna miss the tilting feature of the tilt that made the phone so unique. but hope these things go refurb so they go cheap like they did with the tilt but that will obviously be a while.
looks like they took down the page :(
I was playing with the demo at the ATT store the other day and i really like this phone. The keys are a bit tiny but rubbery so you fingers don't slip. The diamond like cut back is a bit strange though has a nice metal bezel around the camera. The screen is beautiful and feels solid in your hand. The sliding keyboard is flawless in its motion. Though the phone is about 2x thick as my iphone the weight is approaching a 2 ton truck i really like the phone. They said they may start selling it Sunday when the mangers aren't in the stores usually, so i think i will pick one up since I have a $100 ATT customer appreciation credit available to me. Though I wish it did have the tilting keyboard but I guess less mechanics to F up.
Local ATT said they got the shipment but there was a recall and they had to ship them all back, and they dont have an estimated arrival time
wow, it looks great.
if this was the face of the G1, I would have bought it two weeks ago.
HTC took the page down. 404 bummerness.
just saw this at best buy today in minneapolis and it's for sale, in the unlocked phones section, along with the N95, diamond, and N81. It was called the touch pro too, not fuze
was it gsm? ah i guess i shouldnt rush to bb ad spend an extra 300? to get it a little early
That's because the unlocked version is called the Touch Pro, the AT&T branded version is the Fuze.
I thought the Touch Pro at BB was the Sprint one? Does this mean they have a US 3G, GSM one that retains the original keyboard layout AND has the front facing camera still intact? (PLZ!!)
I dunno.. but Touch Pro is the "normal" name
Anyone else think HTC really needs to slow things down a bit?
touch pro has been around awhile just att branded it up and gave a diff name
Sweetness! SO getting this phone!
well the button does look more flush
