RIM unleashes BlackBerry Storm online user guide, still no release date in sight
RIM's just launched an online "User Guide" for the BlackBerry 9530, AKA Storm. Covering everything from basic, operational how-tos to more advanced processes such as syncing, the site is a so-called "interactive" instruction manual. We've already spied a PDF of the manual, played around with the phone in our hands-on, and seen numerous pictures from all ends of the Earth. At this point we're getting a bit impatient for the thing to actually appear and are less than impressed with this newest teaser. Let's just cut to the chase already, can we?

0_0 a lot of hype has been goin around for this device....
Now I'm not one for me-too products, but this is certainly a win for RIM. Tactile feedback is a great thing.
I wouldn't even call this a "me-too product." Unless there's another phone out there with a touchscreen that's also a button?
At least it does a bit more than read and send email. I swear that peek thing got an insane amount of hype -and coverage- for the waste of pocket space that it is.
I dont understand all the hype around the Black Berry storm or Black Berry in general.
whats the big deal about them? what makes them better than an iPhone or Android?
This thing has a lame 1GB of built in memory, lame apps / developer community and from what the online demos show the OS isn't all that great.
FIRST! FLAME ON!

Damn you MrFairladyz...well played sir...well played....
I just saw the first Verizon commercial for this, it said Available for Pre Order. Still says nothin for a date. Dont matter to me thou, Im T-Mobile. If i ever go with a touch phone ima wait for the tube.
unfortunately for us, we're on Tmobile, which means we will never see such a great phone...
ever heard of the G-1?
I think that was his point
Was told yesterday by a Verizon manager that it would be released the week of the 16th and would arrive in between $199 and $299. Unfortunately no price breaks for current non upgrade eligible VZW customers like AT&T did for the iPhone 3G launch. Best Buy is taking pre-orders of the phone already and apparently we will be seeing it next week.
Meh, I think a lot of us are going have to go looking for their enthusiasm. I'm not sure but I think I lost mine somewhere in October...
This is getting somewhat ridiculous now. I didn't think anyone would be able to top AT&T's complete mishandling of the Bold, but here we are. Just pathetic.
It will not be out until the weekend of the 22nd
the phone is cool cant wait till its released to GSM providers, knowing my carriers luck (T-Mobile) the other guy (AT&T) will more that likely get it first like they do every other cool phone/device
punctuation's your friend
He's probably typing on a dumbphone!
The iPhone.
Just got off the phone with my friend at VZW. He's a regional manager so he KNOWS what's really going on. Apparently the software glitch is already fixed and STORM is scheduled for arrival on November 16th. You heard it here, first!
Well I just got off the phone with my friend over at RIM. He's the head of development so he actually INVENTED the Storm. I had him on conference with my cousin, the CEO of VZW and they told me that each Storm will come with a blowjob and a chocolate chip cookie. You heard it here FIRST!
must be good to have all those inside contacts with RIM jobs.
i get it rim job like licking a butt! how long you had that "joke" on the backburner, phan? it's so good it must have been aging like a fine wine since you conceived it
hehehe! i make fun of phanbouy's joke's because i'm a jealous he-bitch! tee hee!
Good god phanbouy, sinking to new lows even for you. High five!
My friend works full-time for a private real estate company and one of his co-workers is a Verizon Wireless Regional Manager working for his company part-time. Anyways, point is apparently alot of the higher ups in the company already have this phone as their main device and he got a chance to play around with it. He said the feedback is great being that this was the main factor in determining if he would switch from his curve to the Storm. He just played with it today and is already going to put a pre-order on it tomorrow at Best Buy. I told him not to support bestbuy as it will eventually fail to internet sales, but that's besides the point. I can't wait until I get a chance to handle this baby, but I just wanted to get that out there.
Wait, what?
They certainly have enough commercials for the storm - but yet, no storm.
tru dat brotha
The official date is the 23rd per every Verizon corporate rep. It wasn't very hard to find that out, just took some googling.

Actually, that was the most useful thing I've seen for understanding the features of this phone.
the instock date is the 16th but they have a hold on them until the 23rd. thats when they will start selling them. they meaning best buy.
This is a really nice phone, but again the lack of WiFi kills it for me. They're a few reason why WiFi is important, for example i have Fios at home and at work so it's really a shame this thing can't switch to WiFi when at work or home, also how about if go on a business trip outside the US, how the heck is this thing going to pull emails everytime you get back to your hotel room at night, if it's not WiFi capable. Verizon is a evil company cause that's just a way to screw business customers, make them pay outranges prices when Roaming outside the US, Blackberry Bold FTW.
Congrats, buddy! You've invented the word of the year: "outranges"!
Crap! "Outrange" is already a word, meaning to surpass in range! Wait... are you typing with SureType?
Apparently my Vodafone UK Storm shipped this morning :-) In stark contrast to my normal luck I won the phone and according to the Voadfone rep that contacted me to confirm everything the competition winners are getting units from the very 1st batch to be released in blighty... They even gave me a half price tarrif... Sweeeet!
What a load of bull.
In the UK they are released on Friday this week.
I have a Storm on order with Vodafone UK, the last rep told me it was shipping on 14th November, so hopefully I'll receive it sometime next week..
I life in NJ right outside of New York City, and all of a sudden yesterday, 4 billboards within 10 miles of me had ads for the Storm. It's gotta e on the way ...
Gad get: This is definitely a "me too" device. Every other RIM product has had some type of physical keyboard, and this one does not. Gee, I wonder why that is? Maybe you're right, and it's just the normal course of innovation post-iPhone, but I doubt it. After all, RIM isn't that creative, hence the phone that works really well but requires 40 buttons to do so.
To be fair, if Apple shipped a device with a physical keyboard, that would be a "me too" device also, and you message board 'tards would be saying that Apple was now copying the RIM model. But when RIM suddenly drops its trademark physical keyboard in lieu of touch, and adds an "app store," somehow that's not copying the iPhone, despite its recent success? Please.
One of the main reasons for Verizon delays is because they are still working on cripling the hardware so people have to buy extra services to use those wonderful features that are normally free and built into the hardware. Just like every black berry Verizon has to offer.
Thank you....I work for "big red" I'm really getting over all this...I wish we would just come out with release date and price already(well at least official pricing). GRRRR to my company, JK
Willing to trade my G1 for a Storm!
