Dospara doles out Atom-powered Prime Note Cartina UM netbook
It's been forever and a day since we heard from Dospara, but as it typically does, it's just hanging around and waiting to see what catches on before it dives in. Case in point: here we have the Prime Note Cartina UM, an 8.9-inch netbook that's hitting alongside the second and third iteration of everyone else's. You could likely guess the specifications in your sleep, but we'll humor you anyway; we've got a 1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 120GB hard drive, a 1,024 x 600 panel, 802.11b/g WiFi, a battery good for two hours and a mysterious Linux build pre-installed. You won't find an optical drive bundled in, but you will find a ¥39,980 ($413) price tag should you venture over to Japan.

If the $419.99 price conversion is right, this would've been a good deal when the Aspire One was just out. (Kind of like "the same price for the same stuff, but without the microsoft tax")
But now that the 120GB Aspire One is $360, too late....
Well, it would've been like that if this was in this side of the globe.
Not in the Japanese market. The Aspire costs at least 45,000 yen, making the DOSPARA the cheapest nebook short of the Asus 4G Surf by a fairly wide margin. That and it would be the first netbook released here without a Microsoft OS. So its interesting on a couple of counts.
Dos who?

Dos who?
If I make a netbook that's the same as everyone else's can I get an Engadget post too?
keyword in this headline: is dull(s)
i think its really good looking for a netbook, don't look as cheap as some of the others, but then again it aint as cheap as the others:(
honstly, i dont see how buying a cheap low spec laptop for $400 is better than buying a better used laptop on craigslist... cept the form factor.
Oh Jesus Christ...
*head explodes*
NICE
Sez its atom powered... where is the fusion chamber? Its is quite a small device to harness the quantum energy of the hydrogen atoms sub-atomic particulate matter, quarks and such...
Its in the bezel.
+1 for linux btw
