MSI Wind U120 gets spotted, examined in the wild

We've already seen a few shots of MSI's forthcoming Wind U120 netbook, but our pals at Engadget Chinese have now taken in one of its first public appearances and, naturally, they've provided plenty of pics for folks to dive into. That includes some close-up shots of the netbook's slightly revised port situation, some comparison shots with the non-two tone U100, and even another glimpse of that 9-cell battery we've already seen floating about. MSI also had it's full-fledged Bravo EX620 laptop on display, though it's a pretty safe bet that we won't be seeing it 'round these parts anytime soon.

It looks like someone beat it with a stick...
I personally like the design of the U100 series more, it looks more cute and is more compact. Its one of my favorite netbook designs.
And I'm saying "cute and compact" as a dude. : )
This looks too much like the Aspire One to me.
well if it wasnt 2 tone...:(
idk why i dont like 2 tone :(
good luck trying to keep fingerprints off that bezel
@chin-poh
agreed this is impressive
The white keyboard and lower parts look plastic-y and cheap, and the piano black bezel is a real fingerprint magnet.
when can i get like a 10" netbook with an efficient ARM processor?
when can you get a big mac at burger king?
I believe they are called Redfly's
why are you making fun? with Ubuntu for ARM on the way, i don't see why that would be a ridiculous prospect. you get much better battery life and most applications would just have to be recompiled for ARM.
well the netbook term was coined by intel, and intel and ARM broke up with the sail of XScale
then you consider having to get a new version of the already limited Linux software, and that we don't really know how current ARM CPUs will stack against x86 ones performance wise
even though it was a pointless comment, ocean FORGOT to put "i" before something. what does this mean?
Why update the wind to an exact clone of the old wind? it's not like it looks any better, although the screen seems a drop sharper and brighter.
Why does the 6 cell or 9 cell batteries have to stick out of the bottom instead of out of the back? I dont want my netbook on the back 2 inches higher than the front. I just dont see why it cant stick out the back and keep the bottom flush
Buy a Samsung NC10. The 6 cell battery doesn't stick out at all.
The height is actually not a big deal all except for maybe the 9 cell. The 6 cell really stickup ever so slightly its almost not noticable.
Hilarious comment left on Engadget China and its Google translation:
Translation:
"It is clear that the first photo shoot is not working
After a supporting role in the subduction of the main readers want to see the two that were of no use to block the electric pen is the failure of the failure of the failure of failure!"
Original Chinese (traditional):
"第一張照片很顯然拍壞了
主體隱沒於配角之後 讀者想看的都被那兩台沒用的筆電擋住了 真是失敗 失敗 失敗中的失敗!"
" The first picture shot very obviously is bad The main body is hidden after the supporting role the reader wanted to look has been blocked by that two useless pen electricity is really in the defeat defeat defeat's defeat! "
Fixed that for you. You'll need this fish in your ear.
"defeat, defeat, defeat of defeats!"
I think that should say "Fail, fail, fail of fails!", just to put it in Engadget-English :)
you guys both failed...
"The first picture is obviously badly shot.
the main object is hidden behind the supporter, the thing that the readers want to see was blocked by those two useless notebooks. truly fail, fail, epic fail!"
next time, get a native speaker... babelfish doesn't work as well as in h2g2...
Anyone notice the underside picture? Both labels show U100 - Why?

effing stupid comment system...
there's nothing wrong with the comment system
I know that was a totally inaccurate translation from Google Translate and Babelfish, that's why it is so funny :P
where is the asian model?
China is in Asia !!!
Looks good, but I don't see how it could be worth having an upgrade from the U100. If they fixed the fan issue (which begin to loosen and make noise with time), maybe it might be interesting.
The Wind, an acronym for “Wi-Fi Network Device",but it will become "WiMAX Network Device". Wanna see video hands-on Wind U-120?, find the link at http://www.wimaxian.com/2008/11/23/msi-wind-u-120the-first-wimax-enabled-msi-netbook/
