Acer readies 10-inch Aspire One for Q1 launch

Acer's top-selling Aspire One is set to break into 10-inch territory as early as February or March. This according to Scott Lin, Acer Taiwan president. Also on the books are 12.1-, 13.3-, and 15.6-inch LED-backlit laptops for 2009 -- a 14.1-incher should hit this year with a price of NT$40,000 or about $1,200 of the green, presidential stuff.

Hopefully it won't be physically bigger than it already is.
Oh, and a single model number would be nice. Don't follow Asus' lead, please.
You know I decided to go against all "ignore the bots" logic and click on that link, and I'm glad I did. The writing is quite hilariously bad
i know im still newbie, but i hope u can give the change to do link exchange. i want more incoming link
hope you understanding it and THANKS A LOT!
Damn, just got the 8.9" version and would love that extra screen space :(
At least they are moving in the right direction :D
I love my Aspire One. I have upgraded the ram to 1.5gb and the HDD to 250gb, and currently it is running with Windows Server 2008 with desktop experience.
Don't see the point of the 10" screen unless you are going to up the res to 1280x720.
Otherwise, concentrate on making the batter more beefy!
Mmm, beefy batter... *drool*
I'm with you. I love my Acer Aspire One and I would only change the screen for a 1280x720 10" panel. Oh, and being able to disable onboard RAM so that I can install 2 Gb on it (and being able to overclock it like the MSI wind... but this is more of a capricious thought.
that's what she said.
Its great to see these low end laptops getting more and more expensive by the week. I was getting worried the market was going to allow even the most budget conscious buyers own a computer.
i laughed so hard when i read that
It's chubby and fat, much like Jack Black's posterior! And shiny too !
Hope it runs faster.
Ohhhhh, pop-culture reference! Ashish is hip.
What. The. Hell.
Netbook makers have officially missed the point.
So are these still netbooks? It's a netbook brand but the price is 4x higher and the screen is somewhere in the middle.
I'm confused.
Re-read the article. Acer is going to produce a 14" laptop that costs roughly $1200. There isn't a price on the 10" model that they announced.
Apparently reading comprehension IS a problem in today's society.
If there is a power button on the hinge and it lights up green, kind of reminds me of the new Sony series design. But, they arent as fat looking!
I love my Aspire One. Perfect as is. Making these netbooks bigger no longer makes them netbooks, but moreso like those "subnotebooks" that Sony, etc have the audacity to charge $2100 for. Now only if we had some official definition of what a "netbook" is, ie a 15-inch display doesnt qualify, but a 10 inch does.
Wait, the 8.9" Acer One is only $349 and this on is 1.1" larger and costs $1200? Hmmm, the original Acer One is looking like a better deal all of the time.
Re-read the article, please.
The 14" laptop costs $1200. There isn't a price listed on the new netbook model.
it says the 14 incher will be that much - doesn't give a price for the 10...
If I only could get a 8.9" A110 with a SILENT fan I would get one instantly.
Returned the first one, sent the 2nd one to Acer for FAN replacement due to noisy fan.
Got it back, still noisy.
Loves the A110 format and build quality...

Hope they changed the god awfull trackpad...
Why is currency in Asia always in such tiny increments? I wonder if they have to use scientific notation for house prices. By the way, LMAO @ beefy batter, hahaha! =)
these people can't comprehend well..
i am rooting for a change in screen resolution. a higher one, because primarily netbooks are for students. students are not oldies and can see CLEARLY.
I'd only want them to swap the bezel space for screen space. Making it any larger or more expensive would defeat the purpose of the netbook. I'm typing this on my One, which is triple-booting Leopard, Ubuntu, and Windows 7. Awesome machine. It's actually getting more use than my MacBook, due to it's small size and weight, which make it more practical to take everywhere.
the 10 inch acer is ready for pre order at amazon.
but no point if the resolution isnt going to be better.
plus its 20 bucks more for a 1.1increase of screen?
worth it?
maybe.
but im fine with my 8.9
: )
