XPS 1340 appears on Dell's website in name only
It's just been a few short days since Dell's still unofficial Inspiron 1425 made an impromptu appearance on the company's website, but it doesn't look like the leaks are showing any signs of stopping just yet, with the also unannounced XPS 1340 now making its debut in an equally roundabout manner. Unfortunately, apart from the fact that it'll apparently have a 64GB SSD option, there aren't exactly many details to be found on the system, although it seems pretty safe to bet that it'll be an update of some sort to the popular XPS m1330. Unless, of course, Dell intends to make its line-up even more unnecessarily confusing, which is also a possibility.

Graphics chips that don't melt are more than welcome, Dell.
tell that to nvidia .... I hope DELL decides with ATi for their next gen laptops.
computers that don't whine or have parts that die every 20 days are awesome too. This has been my experience with my m1330. Still have it and i love it when it works though :D.
well they went ATi on the Studio laptops, but those questionable Studio XPS slides states Hybrid SLI
That's been on Dells site for several weeks now, well done Omer. I posted it a long time ago on notebook review. Great scoop.
You are just so awesome! What would the internet be without you?
A less annoying place?
A week behind?
Or maybe it's just a typo and the customization option will be for the 1330...
dell released their m1530 right around this time last year and now they're badly in need of updating to centrino 2.
Maybe a little Centrino 2 action. :)
stings, knowing I just bought my 1330 weeks ago T_T
unless this turns out to be a more expensive, only slightly different one, then I dont mind that much.
:) This is not going to be "only slightly different one", but Centrino 2 based one (finally!). If the rumor is true: http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/26/dell-studio-xps-13-and-16-leak-out-due-in-november/
Please upgrade the graphics chip to something like a 9600m.
MSI did it in their 13" laptops, why can't dell?
Because the majority of mainstream users prefer lower weight, slimmer size, and better battery life over faster graphics performance. HOWEVER, I would also like to see a 9600m in a 13.3" notebook since I'm a performance junkie, although it's not going to happen with Dell.
Anyone else didn't notice that this is for the XPS 1340 NOT the XPS M1340?
im like 2 days away from buying a xps m1330 :/
damn, i just bought my m1330 two weeks ago. oh well, this machine kicks a$$ and will last me some time. only thing I'd like to add is the ssd.
Want to buy mine? I want more disk space in my M1330 than 64GB.
when it's this close (supposedly) to the next model, I think it's worth waiting if you can to see what they will be and how much. Then its decision time. If they are as nice as they seem to be, I'll wait. If it's outrageously priced, I will go elsewhere. Lenovo Ideapad U330 is on my short list. Centrino2, DDR3, less muscle than current XPS but better battery life and cooler. I want Dell, but I want the latest and greatest.
I'd like to have an Nvidia Option (9400M GS Chipset sounds nice) in that book. Mostly for the Option to test CUDA with it.
