Lenovo S10 with six-cell battery gets pictured, priced

Lenovo's S10 netbook has been relatively well received since its introduction earlier this year, but the battery life has always been a bit of a sticking point, with the included 3-cell battery simply not meeting some folks' netbook demands. It looks like that situation has now been rectified, in Germany, where a new model equipped with a six-cell battery has just gone on sale for the fairly reasonable price of €329 (or roughly $425). Unfortunately, there's no indication of a release 'round these parts just yet, but you can check out some more pics of the somewhat bulky addition by hitting up the link below.

Lenovo is finally getting things right. As an early adopter of the S10, I've been disappointed with the lack of accessories available. Now I can finally use my S10 as a full fledged portable!
If you don't mind the tumor-like growth and destruction of the original form factor ... hey ... good stuff. Same with the Dell models that offer a 9 cell on their regular notebooks. Ugly. Maybe useful, but ugly.
You think that's bad? Have you seen this? http://www.aspireoneuser.com/2008/11/22/7200mah-battery-8-hour-use-acer-aspire-one/
holy crap, that's like a toner cartridge right?
only dell's extended batteries stick back and not down. Oh and aspire is just another proof of how dumb Chinese/Taiwanese designers can be. Why would you buy a 2 pound netbook when the battery weight 3 poinds extra and would make the netbook look like some kind of circus freak? Puff the magic dragon, eh?
@cg0def
Dell's batteries stick either back or down, depending on the model. I have the nice 9-cell that sticks down. It's great it that it actually puts the keyboard at a good slant and keeps the airflow going well. I didn't think I'd like it, but completely do.
@cg0def
the extended battery goes down on the XPS 1530, so not all dell models go out.

MSI Wind is now available with 6 cells for $429.
Lenovo just released the 6 cell battery in the states. The early adopters got screwed as usual $129 per.
A big thank you Lenovo!

Why are they screwed? They bought it early knowing that it only comes with a 3-cell battery.
Looks FUGLY YUK burn it then bin it FUGLY
Professional
Fusion Fuzo
EWWWWWWWWWWWW It's back
YUCK not YUK :P
Yakkity Yak.
We are screwed because the same unit will only be $50 more for a 6 cell. If I want a 6-cell after the fact it is $129. I understand that I had full knowledge when I bought the unit that the a 6-cell would come out. However they should at least give the early adopters a discount on the 6-cell $129 is a heft price for that battery.
Just my two cents. Acer did the same thing with the Aspire One. So I guess this is just standard practice.
But you get TWO batteries for your trouble. You end up with a 6 cell AND a 3 cell for an additional $129. If the 6 cell buyer went out and bought a 3 cell battery they would be spending more than the 6 cell price of $425. I have an acer and the 3 cell battery costs about $68 bucks so the total cost is about the same for unit plus 2 batts.
LOL..pyro 1509!! Can't it any better.
Glare type display. Sucks.
Praise Jesus! Finally - I want this frickin' netbook so bad...(yes, I know about the NC10, but the S10 seems the not-ugliest netbook around).
Oy, what brilliance - you're not located in Europe, it's not available in the US, yet, genius.
i went with the eee pc 1000H at the time when this wasnt around.
guys before you buy this PLEASE WAIT. WHY? becausethey are soon going to be coming out with the s10e, basically the same thing, but with splashtop!!!! the instant startup mini linux os, so yeah wait
Thanks for the info daniel.
why is the netbook raised? It never gets hot enough to need the extra ventilation. Sure you need a 6cell battery but lenovo could have done a much better job designing the battery so that the bottom is laying flat much like it does with dell's extended batteries. Come on lenovo IBM laptops used to be synonymous with good design. Sure it's a cheap netbook but using different hinges does not change the manufacturing cost.
Lenovo S10 6 Cell battery cant sustain long time playing.

Now, the S10 might be a choice I will consider. I think the original was only holding 512MB of RAM. I hope they will increase the default amount to 1GB, which should be a minimum these days.
Best netbook to date IMO. Good to finally see a 6 cell battery!
i find the 5200mah 6 cell lenovo s10 battery in the website.
they supply many high quanlity batteries for mini laptop.
such as 9 cell & 6 cell acer aspire one battery ; 9 cell & 6 cell mis wind u100 battery , advent 4211 4212 4213 battery and medion e1210 battery. 12000mah EEE PC 901 1000 1000H 1200 1200H Battery.
i had sale a 6 cell battery for my lenovo s10 laptop.
i think it is reasonable.
you can find the lenovo s10 battery here: http://global-laptop-batteries.com/ibm-laptop-battery/6-cell-lenovo-s10-battery.html

wonder how well it works.
I have an HP mini 1033CL that I recently bought but I will return it because it lacks a VGA port and has a 3 cell battery only. I really like the S10 form factor. I think it is the best looking netbook on the market. However, I was waiting for a 6 cell version, hoping that it would not be an ugly add on. Now that I see this ugly butt sticking out like bad hamorrhoids, I don't think I want to buy it. I was hoping that Lenovo would design a better battery, like a flat one that is a couple of millimeters thicker than the 3 cell but not sticking out back, or perhaps one that just extends the battery backwards but not downwards. I guess I will wait a little longer for the perfect combination of battery longevity and form factor.
Dudes, I do agree, the S10 should ship with a min of 1GB, but come on, add an additional 1GB SODIMM for $15.00 or $25.00 for the IBM stick. $130 for the 6 cell is a bit pricy, but it gives me a solid 6.5 hours. I upgraded the 80 GB HDD with Intel’s 80 GB SSD. the system performs amazingly well. Very fast even with Vista..wife uses it so I have limited choices. There is no doubt the S10 is the best looking (even with the six cell) and most upgradeable of the lot.
Lenovo battery is very price as usally, I'd like replacement battery, low price and hi-capacity.
http://www.lenovo-batteries.com/
I just bought a Lenovo S10, described as "less than an inch thick", but when I took it out of the packaging the battery was just plain ridiculous.
I wanted a slim convenient laptop, not a blooming hunchback, and it's going back.
Sorry, but it completely negates the advantage of having a netbook (ie. a book-sized convenient little system) to have an unwanted appendage on its back.
I'm going to have to re-think my approach.
