Nokia N85 pops up at Amazon for $556 unlocked
No matter how accustomed we should be by now, it's always jarring to see one of the Nokia N-series phones drop at some outlandish unsubsidized price -- if you think the $556 tag on this N85 is hefty, keep in mind that Amazon is claiming that's already been steeply discounted from an atmospheric $1,200 "list price." While the phone is available to "buy" right this second at Amazon.com, there's a 3 to 5 week ship time quoted, so there's no telling if this'll be the first spot to nab the hotly-anticipated, N96-besting AMOLED handset in the States -- though it might be the first to take your hard earned cash for such a purpose.

Please, bear and take in mind that N-serie products is focused not for SE owner, Apple buyer or Korean cellphone (lg and samsung) but for former and current n-serie owner. In my case, i wish i can change from cellphone but i like the option to publish photo and videos directly to youtube, flickr and wordpress, and im pretty seasoned with the s60 interface, or you could say, we are a captive user.
This phone costs €505 or 640$ over here in Belgium. The same country where subsidised phones are illegal.
So if I buy this one, I would have to keep it for 6 years not to feel guilty afterwards.
Cool... Just wish it would work with Verizon's network.
I understand the fact that Verizon subsidizes shi*ty phones, their choice.
But their network should accept a wider range of phones, like the Nokia N-series
Amazon's list price of $1200 is incorrect and misleading. Actual list price from Nokia is under $600, and when the model was first announced it was said to be in the 500-600 range. Also, if you look harder, you can pre-order from other reputable online retailers at under $500. Amazon's recent price hike is not the best deal (they had it at $489 before the Thanksgiving weekend).
I dont understand people who dont like NOKIA. Nokia has the most user friendly menu and features. Eventho Iphone is still the best in Multimedia and BB is def has the best emailing feature.....but other than their best feature, they are lacking lots of thing that you can only find in Nokia. And about the the price......it's like you buying European Car.....you'll love it no matter how much they cost you. I personally is a cellphone trader.....and nokia price is still comparable to Blackberry and Iphone. Iphone 3G is around 500-600 or maybe more depending where you get it from.....and BB Bold or Storm also cost you around 500-600. Where I can get this Nokia N85 for only $450-$500. SOOO.......WHERE'S THE DIFFERENCE??
