HP Mini 1000 to get $40 price cut
What's this? A $40 price cut on an item that's likely on at least one gift list that you're currently staring at? Huzzah! Unless, of course, you're one of those proactive individuals who went out and already nabbed one. In all seriousness, Laptoping has reportedly received an email notification from Hewlett-Packard that the sleek and sexy Mini 1000 netbook will stoop to $359.99 starting tomorrow. That'll net you a 10-inch panel, Atom N270 CPU (1.6GHz), 1GB of RAM, an 8GB SSD, 3-cell battery and Windows XP Home. There's no word on whether the stylish Vivienne Tam Edition will receive a drop of her own, but we wouldn't count on it (yet).

Woah, my comment got chopped up when getting posted!
Luke, I'll bet laptops make up a sizable amount of Christmas presents and this year, netbooks will make up a good chunk of that number.
Um.... Me.
Come on 6-Cell model. That's the only thing that will make me purchase this, if that feature arrives before the Samsung NC10 arrives in Canada.
Best Buy just lowered the one they sell from $450 to $400, you get the 10.2" led screen and 16GB of SSD storage, pretty good deal imo

I'm so mad that I bought an Eee Pc Surf back in may! Ugh, I hate my impatience now!
Well that was seven months ago, which is an eternity in laptop years. I know if I buy a laptop now, in seven months I will be very jealous of the lowered prices and new hardware the future notebooks will have. I can give myself a bit of solace knowing that I enjoyed my laptop for seven months beforehand.
why go w/ this? It only has a 3 cell battery, hardly useful for travel, which is what i assume most netbooks are geared toward.
I just got an Asus Eee 900HA, and my friend got the 1000HA. They both seem to be much better deals compared to this, so I just don't see how this is an attractive netbook option for the mobile traveler.
With this price cut, I'm very temped in buying this thing..
I was googling around and found some information on a possible 3g device preinstalled on the hp mini 1000. jkOnTheRun has stated that it might just be a Europe thing as their shipping with 3g contracts perhaps? However, I am US and my mini does have the available slot for sim and I have successfully installed the device. I do not have subscription to data service but it is promising.
