New MacBook firmware update doesn't resolve memory issues

Apple may well have an update on the way that fixes the 4GB memory problem affecting at least some new MacBooks and MacBook Pros, but it apparently isn't the firmware update that was just released yesterday. According to jkOnTheRun, while the update appeared to have remedied the problem initially, the freezing eventually returned and, once again, going back to 3GB proved to be the only way to get the laptop back into working condition. Of course, Apple never claimed that the update would fix this particular problem, but it seems that there's an increasing number of people waiting to hear something about the matter straight from the company.

I have bootcamp on my unibody MBP, and OSX runs just fine, but Firefox and Starcraft under Vista freeze repeatedly.
(I know SC can run on OSX, but the mouse acceleration makes it impossible for me to play. And none of the 37589020598 programs that supposedly disable it have worked for me.)
Just wanted to chime in as a unibody MBP owner (maxed options, including 4MB RAM) that has *not* had a problem with the computer. It's wonderful, even though the ramifications of not having a Firewire 400 port really didn't hit me until I tried to transfer video from my GL1... :-)

It's because you only have 4MB of RAM.
Add one more unibody MBP (with 4GB from the factory) owner who has experienced *zero* problems. I've never had a machine before that was so focused on providing what I need, nothing more, nothing less, at a very high level of quality. Apple has outdone themselves.
Bought a MB 2.4GHz mid-December and installed 2 x 2Gb RAM from OWC. No problems til 1/20 when airport card turned off-required restart to turn on.
Today 1-22 the laptop repeatedly freezes, requires restart, which only works sometimes. Many calls to Apple Care with minimal improvement.
They want me to remove OWC chips and reinstall Apple's. I'll do it when we get home, but...
Are these the sort of problems reported?
