HP Pavilion dv6 laptops show up online for pre-order
Eagle-eyed Engadget readers have spotted two new listings on JR.com for dv6-series HP Pavilion laptops. The $800 dv6-1030us houses a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6400, 320GB HDD, and Bluetooth, while the $1,050 model has a 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo P7450, 400GB HDD, 2 firewire ports, and a GeForce 9200M GS (oddly enough, the 1050 model has no mention of Bluetooth capabilities). Both laptops have a 16-inch, 16:9 screen, 4GB RAM, DVD±R/RW, a webcam, 802.11a/g/n and Vista Home Premium 64-Bit. The devices aren't listed on HP's US site, although support documents for the dv6 series are. No release dates given, but both models are currently available for pre-order.

what's so great about these again?
If it's anything like the dv5t series I just received today it's got alot of nice features. I got it as a desktop replacement and it's got everything I need. 15" screen (I think the series mentioned here might be the same style and options just with a 16" screen), Core 2 Duo Penryn, 4GB mem, 320GB drive, ExpressCard 54, SD card reader, DL-DVD burner, higher res screen (1680x1050), HDMI/VGA out, eSATA/USB + 3 more USB ports, the usual connectivity options. And there are alot of extras that you can opt for like the "Infinity View" screen which is just that seamless bezel deal that's gaining popularity, the option to upgrade to better videocards for gaming, and touch control media buttons. It's certainly nothing revolutionary but it's an all inclusive package in a laptop which is pretty nice.
They are the successors to the cheap but fully featured dv5 laptops, I'm going to guess. I have a dv5, very cost effective for the features. The dv6 line seems to be even more cost effective for the features. So cheap but still fully featured is what's good about them.
HP build quality is still a bit lacking though IMO.
The last few times I saw an HP notebook named DV6 were those DV6xxx series that were so universally defective HP actually put a service enhancement (read: recall in all but name) on them.
So DV6? I'll pass.
So, these seem to be "budget" models of their current HDX16 models right?
Fair enough. What do they look like?
and no, not my mother.
your mother obviously
you were just asking for it!
I don't see whats so special about these. Video cards are crappy, and they call them "entertainment" notebooks??
Just look for good promotions, and you can get HDX16 for almost the same price. Also consider better video card HDX series comes with.
I agree, the HDX series is way nicer then nice crap.
Must be a slow day at the office.
By entertainment I believe they mean multimedia and not gaming?
This is perfect for viewing high def video, coupled with the 16:9 screen, they might be good laptops unless they are bulky.
cool, another laptop in the world
this is not "just" another laptop ...
OMG WOWZERS
man i want this
9200m?
Do not want.
1366x768? really?
that is the weird res of my samsung hdtv that i can never get my hp laptop to output to so i have to output at 1024x768 in 4:3 ratio to get my pc to tv connection to work. maybe they will have video driver updates that allow my lappy to output this res now if these new computer screens support it. compatibility is getting so complicated with all these crazy resolutions.
that is a crappy res for a laptop tho imo. i'd rather spring for HDX16 model with higher res and better specs for $400 more.
