FIC's 10.4-inch CW001 Mini-note splashes down in FCC database
First International Computer -- which is a majority owner in Everex and the manufacturer of the first OpenMoko handset -- has delivered an intriguing little machine to us courtesy of the oh-so-revealing FCC. The FIC CW001 Mini-note will arrive on US soil packing a 10.4-inch 1,024 x 600 resolution display, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 2.5-inch SATA II hard drive, dual USB 2.0 ports, a single ExpressCard slot, Intel's 945 GSE graphics, a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, an optical drive and a Windows-based (XP, presumably) OS. You'll also find an inbuilt microphone, headphone jack, VGA output, Ethernet socket, a 4-in-1 multicard reader and a 4-cell Li-ion good for around 4.5 hours of battery life. No telling if this will surface as yet another Cloudbook, but everything here hinges on the price. Then again, doesn't it always?

Optical drive? If that's the case, I'm exchanging my netbook for this pup as soon as it is released.
See, this is beginning to turn into Netbook Blog. Every time I come here some company is releasing another netbook with almost the same specs as the last one.
I know what you mean. Unfortunately, when a certain type of product news dominates, or when there's a bandwagon of sorts (like the whole netbook phenomenon), the blog appears to be saturated with it. Take, for example, the situation when an Apple product announcement comes out. (Except then I don't really mind that much...)
On a side note, did anyone else look at that picture and immediately think of a DS Lite?
@Saif, yeah I was like YAY A DS LITE MOD ARTICLE :D
No such luck, though.
I just thought of something. This is where Sony could have possibly salvaged the UMD Spec. Just an idea.
The optical drive IS a huge plus. Otherwise, this is just a wind with one less usb port and a RAM upgrade. Curious to see how it does against reviews
HAPPY NEW YEAR…
Here I can read about feature and product reviews into additional knowledge for me and I am very grateful to the author of this blog. I thing FIC's 10.4-inch CW001 Mini-note this good product with a many newest features and many webs that discuss about this product so that this product can be made reference if you buy mini Notebook.
This product is really incredible with various features that have and I also interested to have this product as my collection.
Optical drive is like other netbook : external and optional !!
From the CW001 manual :
"To install Windows XP directly from your USB - Slim Combo Drive (optional)"
Jeff
I don't mind the number of netbook stories as long as they discuss competing products, rather than rehashes of products by the same company, e.g. ASUS. It's good for the consumer to be aware of the range of choices they have available to them, even if, admittedly, they mostly feature the same specs.
As for this one, I'm curious to see how the addition of an optical drive (DVD? DVDRW? DVD-DL-RW?) would add to the weight of the computer. Since this is a 10.2 incher, I'd think they'd have a winner on their hands if they could get it at about 3lbs. For reference, the Samsung NC10 (10.2'') weighs 2.91lbs with the battery.
Interesting how Engadget avoided using the term "netbook."
Hey guys i found some more pictures here and i can't see a dvd drive anywhere?!
http://netbook-notebook.com/fic-cw001-102-incses-ujabb-netbook/
so what''s up with that?
There is no optical drive according to the manual. Engadget = Fail.
(Statement will be retracted if proof of optical drive is given)
I'm surprised that they'd manage to fit a '2.5' inch hard drive AND an optical drive AND an express card slot in a device that size!
Is that a fake dsi?
This is a Bullshit News! This Netbook was released Weeks ago: http://www.fic.com.tw/product/cw001.aspx ....and there is no 10.4 Inch Display.
