Exper Style's colorful 8.9-inch netbook rolls out in Turkey

We don't have a heck of a lot to go on here, but the above is apparently a new, 8.9-inch widescreen netbook from Exper called the Exper Style. It seems to boast standard netbook internals -- a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and an 8GB SSD-- and apparently runs Windows XP. It also costs about $470, and comes in a nearly endless range of super duper-looking colors. We're not sure about when this one will be available, but hit the read link for a video of this darling in all its glory.

I'm guessing it's marketed towards the girl who wants her laptop to match her nails.
All 4 of them.
Craig @ Jan 5th 2009 8:17AM
4 girls...not 4 nails. *sigh*

I wish I could get macbooks like this for my Pre-K --> 2nd grade.
absinthe party @ Jan 5th 2009 8:30AM
... come again?
Les @ Jan 5th 2009 8:33AM
Linux is easily the best solution there.
Not stupid expensive, and really easy to lock down so the kids won't mess anything up.
Flashpoint @ Jan 5th 2009 9:05AM
LES
I run Leopard Server on 35 emacs from a G5.
There is nothing easier to me than using that setup. ALl I gotta do is point and click a few times and suddenly SAFARI, BAILEY'S BOOKHOUSE or QUAKE 2 goes BYE BYE.
cemoo @ Jan 5th 2009 8:26AM
yeee this is the shit only if it had better buttons
dodo @ Jan 5th 2009 8:37AM
I'm starting to get allergic reactions from Netbooks...there are tons out there but nowhere to buy and on the streets you don't see anybody using this little bastards...and in this case the red looks kind a cheap...i know the flag of turkey is red but i guess thats not the selling point here...i want innovation, longer battery duracy or make this things cheaper so that we can life with 2hours of runtime...
KilgoreTrout @ Jan 5th 2009 9:14AM
Nowere to buy them?
Nobody uses them?
On what planet are you living dude?
Here in Scandinavia they are omnipresent.
Cell phone providers give them away nearly for free if you subscribe to their broadband plans, often throwing in a cell phone too.
You can buy different kinds and brand of netbooks , not only in every electronics store, but also in supermarkets, discount stores (where I bought my MSI wind), and even some gas station.
Taking a subway or a train or a plane you see people doing all kind of things with them, including watching TV, playng games, skyping, etc.
They are So omnipresent actually that they already lost their cool factor

I've seen this one. Price is TRY650 (~USD425) in a local retailer in Turkey.
Specs:
Classic Atom 1.6Ghz, 1 gigs ram, Sandisk 8GB pSSD.
Keyboard is a bit small (comparable to Toshiba NB10).
My only complaint would be the cheap-looking-and-cracking casing.

Did the news from Gaza reach whatever place you live in?
KilgoreTrout @ Jan 5th 2009 9:20AM
It was an answer to Sea Urchin, but Engadget commenting system today sucks more than usual.
Sorry about that.
dodo @ Jan 5th 2009 9:23AM
@KilgoreTrout
interesting...well I'm living on a planet called Switzerland... it's tiny and in the heart of europe... I call u lucky if you can get one of these little puppies nearly for free. Here people just started discovering the possibility of going online where you want so I am jaleous with you if you can go online as much as u want where u want ! :)

Never knew Etch-a Sketch was getting into the netbook business.
At least I can delete by shaking the screen.
Jake @ Jan 5th 2009 10:43AM
Beat me to it.
The Angry Intern @ Jan 5th 2009 1:50PM
beat me to it, too. that was my first thought was that it looked like an etch-a-sketch.
yomama07024 @ Jan 5th 2009 10:22AM
Whoa! 8 gigs?!
sarcasm....
that's really sad that people have to pay $470 just for 8 gigs.
I know it's a solid state drive, but still...it's expensive.
Oli D @ Jan 5th 2009 10:54AM

I'm an idiot for commenting lightly on a serious matter.

Hi everyone from Turkey.
First of all, red hasn't got any meaning cuz' there are 9 colours to choose.(As seen on http://yahoyt.com/h/3071/exper-style-rengarenk)
Second, Exper has a valuable market share in Turkey and have a serious experience in costumer care. Maybe you are hopin' to know about the production quality in Turkey but i guarantied that it is better than china. Turkey is a only laptop producer in EU.
On the second hand, i am sick of hearing news about that netbooks. Why not just buy an iPod Touch to check your mail, surf the web, play the games and play kind of multimedia? Just for 299 bucks?
Love from Turkey/Bursa. :)*
*Sorry for my bad english :(
