Doesn't the PS3 cost $430 to make? I mean, they need to make a profit, right? Or did some magical microeconomics trick blow over my head?
they rely on game sales to make up for profit margins, xbox and 360 have not sold for profit either.

Learn to read homestyle... it says savings of $21.50 are to be had. So the targeted consumer is going to save money. I guess you were too consumed with the thought of being the first post, rather than thinking of writing something pertinent.

FYI I have a Wii yes, I am also a fan of the 360 I just don't see the need for one when I have countless gaming PC's.
Sony = failure, all of there products IMO.

You gotta sell product to make a profit too there chief. Those things aren't doing much for Sony's bottom line sitting in stacks on the shelves and in warehouses either. My local Bestbuy has so many left over from the holidays they have built a virtual fort of them back by the customer service desk. If they were Wii's, they'd be gone in two days, tops.
I still cant imagine how soo many gaming consoles are sold..... and how do people get time to play games.....!!!
I actually refuse to have any tangible friends, thus maximizing possible gametime.
I'm a working law student who owns all three consoles. If I have time to play at least two of my consoles a week, anyone short of a med student has time to play at least one console in their down time. It all narrows down to what you use for entertainment.
On a side note, anyone want a OG 60gig PS3 for exactly $495. Kthnxby.

I play in OCD bursts: insane non-stop gaming for a few weeks and then the damn console collects dust for a few months.

Honestly the original black color looks a lot better than this thing.
The white PS3 looks better in person.
Check out the new EVO Console. All multi-media applications with this gaming/computer console.
Is it just me, or does the PS3 controller look good in white, and the xbox controller good in black?

Don't care about this, but Yakuza 3 looks great. PS3 will be starting strong this year, as opposed to the crappy end of the year 2008...

PS3 will definitely be starting out really strong this year (hopefully it goes the whole year) but I gotta say, 2008 was an awesome year as well.. All those games and everything.. It finally started catching up in sales and hopefully it will skyrocket this year

I'll be curious to see the next generation of game consoles. I wonder if we see a return to more sane launch prices of $300 or if they'll remain at the new $400-600 price range. Of course, with the current economy we likely won't see new consoles for some time still.

I've never understood why these consoles are released. Don't get me wrong, this design is beautiful. But, unless you have it in some glass case, like they do at conventions, I don't see how you can enjoy the artwork. Even if you stand it on its side, it'd be hard to enjoy as well. Maybe I'm in the minority of people who just slide their gaming consoles inside an entertainment center or cabinet. Who knows.
Again, that dragon artwork is beautiful by the way.
