I just checked out this laptop and it's not thicker than the 1525 at all. If it is thicker, it's by a fraction of an inch and isn't noticeable. I'm going to be purchasing one after checking it out, because I really like my 1525 but there was an accident involving water. As for the 15, I appreciate that they took a lot of the frills out, the laptop looks very clean and simple, which is exactly what I want when I'm doing things on the screen. The lack of hdmi isn't really a problem, I don't know very many people who hook their laptop up to a bigger tv or monitor.
The device is aimed at gamers and TV watchers, generating a 3D image with use of a pair of 0.7-inch OLED panels, which each display separate images, doing away with the ghost imagery that often comes along with 3D displays.
