HP rumored to have new Mini-notes on the way, father still unknown
While the Viviene Tam Edition Mini 1000 sure was pretty, it's hardly what you'd call "new." According to undisclosed sources cited by the always questionable DigiTimes, Hewlett-Packard is toying with the idea of bringing a few new infants to market in the Mini-note line. If all goes to plan, a WWAN-enabled Mini-note 2150 (13.3-inch, presumably) will hit the scene in early June. For what it's worth, a new 11.6-inch model is also mentioned, and as expected, the whole crew (however large) is apt to arrive with Intel Atom's within. Guess we'll just have to wait and see, folks.

I don't care who they hell her father is as long as she's good looking and gives me good service any time I needed.
Actually, why DO people like to go online and tell others they only care about looks and sex? Do other people actually think the poster is cool or gets laid more?
ur father is a woman?

In your logic, Yes.
Coo (loves his Mini 1030). I plan on grabbing a dv2 (or an updated Mini) when Windows 7 comes out tho
fb- is the father.
man, i see these small notebook/ netbook/ lifebook everywhere at school now. selling like hotcakes
Thanks HP, I was soooo going to get the Dell Mini 12, thanks for forcing me to make "decisions" again. Ugh!
Lots of experimenting in a time when netbooks are just starting to be successful but developers still feel adventurous enough to play with new form factors (P, Mini 12, now HP).
A good thing.
HP has had great success with the Mini- More than expected. You can definitely see this line grow.
Unfortunately you're also going to see some form factor prices increase with customer intelligence decrease thinking they're getting a full featured notebook and not.
Many customers quickly return the Eee PC w/ Linux because they have no clue how to use it.
13.3", same styling & materials, maybe a bit thinner & with fully internal 6 cell battery...man, that's the stuff cheapo-notebook dreams are made of LOL
A few years ago HP had a huge convention in Cancun. I had the pleasure of hands-on time with a prototype netbook, and I also got one of the first iPaqs as a gift. Point is, I wish they had the vision to release some of these gadgets ahead of the competition.
Hello HP-Compaq, how about giving us new gadgets instead of adding stuff to an already crowded market?
Yours truly, a witne$$ of what you can do.
I'm not to excited about this. 10 and 13 inch screen will result in prices around $600-900 and that's with lacklustre amount of RAM and a slightly underwhelming CPU, not to mention the absence of a proper GPU. For the same money you'll probably be able to get a proper 12 inch laptop that even includes a CD drive. I'd pay maximum $500 for a netbook and those that cost more than my main machine from Dell get zero attention from me. After all, these netbooks with tiny keyboard, small screens and not so powerful specs aren't usable for more than an hour or so. Better to lug around a tiny bit heavier 12 inch laptop that has the same usability as a main computer.
Now when does that 2140 come out....
Still holding out for a 6" x 9" form factor with a nice screen and nearly no bezel.
And it wouldn't hurt to copy older IBM laptop keyboards. My ancient IBM 600E laptop
has a better keyboard than my DV1000. HP take note!
finally these company fellows have noticed that there ARE 11 inch laptops existing in the market
why make all the butt ugly 10 inchers leaving the unnecessarily chunky rims around the screen when they can actually come up with 11 inch screens that fits the full size keyboard perfectly without having leave such thick edges...
...but can it run Starcraft II?
Please, please, PLEASE remove the apostrophe from "Atoms."
Sorry, Grammar Nazi. And that's my biggest pet peeve.
Vince,
I think that you got that wrong, you meant to say that the mistake was in the construction "Intel's Atom" rather than "Intel Atom's".
They clearly did not mean to write "Intel Atoms", since there are not multiple atom chip inside the offering.
Actually, the post was speaking of a group or series of sub-notebooks that come with "Intel Atoms" or Intel's Atom chips (plural) inside.
Regardless, the apostrophe is wrong, as the Atoms don't possess anything.
I just had a long chat at the pub with an HP UK high ranker about these new Mini Notes,
all very interesting until he stopped halfway through remembering he wasnt supposed to give out any details!
Pretty standard stuff apart from the probing questions about my experience with the Atom 330 dual core CPU.... hmm interesting...

Finally, an 11.6" screen. That sounds just about Perfect!
