Hey Sony, where's the 1.86GHz VAIO P for America?
We already asked this question with "1.6GHz" in place of "1.86GHz," but seriously Sony, is there some sort of weird embargo on high-speed chips to America that we aren't aware of? While we Yanks have exactly one CPU option for the newly released VAIO P (that'd be the 1.3GHz Atom), those in Japan can order up the VGN-P90S with a 1.86GHz Atom Z540 processor. Of course, it's a ¥15,800 ($174) option over the baseline Z520, but an option nonetheless.[Thanks, Erica]

...But can it run Crysis?
Actually, I'm serious. Can it?
No, it can not.
The ASUS N10 might though, and it costs less than this beast (although the form factor looks awesome)
I have been really interested in the Vaio Z series lately. Interestingly, the model available in Japan has a higher configurable processor since the cooling seems to be rated for a higher TDP. I don't really understand why you would release certain configs in certain countries when the laptops are (nearly) identical.
For reals, I wants me some VAIO love over here.
Lol @ embargo, the processors are American.
Sony hates us for our freedom
This is very simple. Microsoft is cockblocking the entire netbook and UMPC evolution in America using hardware limitations. We have already seen the 1GB RAM XP limitation, which should provoke OUTRAGE but is being tolerated (that includes you Engaget). They have probably asked intel to sit on higher clockspeed atom chips till they starting selling a "mobile" version of windows 7. The reason other countries have better technology and extensive free wifi is because american companies would rather COCKBLOCK to keep their monopolies rather and be competitive and actually have to innovate.
Actually Tokyo is not a city, although it is broken down into numerous cities. Tokyo is a prefecture, as they are called.
Btw, engadged, your commenting system sucks.
You're new here, aren't you?
yes... where?
I think SONY means that YOU the Americans do not deserve to this!
OHH```` How do I wish our HOLY Apple giving me a one that WE wanna~~ IT must be the best, we trust!!
>No it's about the 10th or 11th largest. But that's irrelevant anyway. If Microsoft or Apple or some >other US company were having a 'soft launch' do you think that would involve Japan?
No, Tokyo area is the largest of the world. (http://www.worldatlas.com/citypops.htm) You are refering to Tokyo district, which is just a part of Tokyo city.
>I really wonder why Japan gets the upgrade first. It really makes no sense to me what so ever!
It is because Japanese market for this kind of devices is larger comparing with the other countries. Demand on 1.86GHz version is very small (at least, Sony predicted so), and it does not make sanse for Sony to tyr salling this version of the product in even smaller market like the states. It's just a management decision.
Quit bitching. Most of Europe won't see *any* Vaio P anytime soon.
STUPID, "America" is a CONTINENT; NOT a country. Be more intelligente and avoid this kind of double words.

Oh boy!! A game of MEANINGLESS TECHNICALITIES!!!!
There is NO continent called America. The formal names, since you two love ridiculous formalities, are North and South America.
Also, the term America is commonly used to refer to the U.S. which is an abbreviation of United States, which is an abbreviation of The United States of America. By commonly used, I mean USED CORRECTLY, like the 2nd definition of a word in the dictionary, which is no less correct than the 1st definition. It all depends on CONTEXT.
To hold any word to a static definition and call all future meanings "incorrect" is to deny the evolutionary nature of language. There's a reason modern English sounds nothing like the works of Shakespeare. WORDS CHANGE MEANINGS and acquire new meanings. Get used to it.
The web is infested with grammar Nazis that throw a tantrum every time they find some meaningless technicality and have an orgasm whenever they have a chance to correct it.
Here's the litmus test: If you understood what I meant, then there is no need to correct it. The purpose of communication is to get one's message across - Not to impress everyone by sounding like Walter Cronkite.
Here's a better mantra for you:
