$10 laptop" today, now priced at $20. Unfortunately dubbed Sakshat, which ironically translates as "before your eyes," the laptop is slated to ship in six months, with specs in line with
what we've heard already: 2GB of storage, WiFi, Ethernet and 2 watts of power consumption. In fact, there really isn't much "unveiling" going on at all, since there's still no published image of the thing, or information about the screen size, RAM or processor. Some folks are also still skeptical as to whether a laptop can really be produced at such a low cost, since most LCDs alone would put it over budget, but we suppose we'll find out this summer. The laptop itself won't be subsidized, but the government will shoulder 25 percent of the cost of broadband for colleges, and there will be free e-learning textbooks available to students online.

well the list is long, any way the other problem with english is the limited gamut of sounds forr example there is no way you can pronounce zh (Tamils will sure laugh at it).
any way the actual pronunciation is: saakshaat (nop u said it wrong that's wrong ask the indian next to you how it is done correctly)
Even so i am sure no indian ever laughs or even makes a lewd comment when the above mentioned english words are used in their presence. But that is expected form a 10000 year old civilization. I think it IS a subsidized netbook because it's driven by elections and the Indian government needs something big like this to show the voters so they don't remember the lousy economy. Probably runs some Linux on an ARM similar type of processor. I doubt it's x86 based.
The government will not subsidise the device, it has already invested in its development.
I think it will do just fine, and that link some guy posted. Indian women are sexy, also as for the stereotype of Indian's working in call centers, more likely Computer Sciences since they have the most in the world. Yes they do get contracts for call centers but only because most companies are too cheap to offer it from their/there own countries.
