10-inch Aspire One does a little government work at the FCC
It looks like Acer's 10-inch Aspire One D150 is getting set for a US debut, as it just popped up in the FCC's all-knowing database. Nothing here we didn't know or couldn't guess -- Acer's own list of changes from the 8.9-inch Aspire One consists of the screen size and a new Bluetooth module -- but it's nice to see Uncle Sam giving this bad boy the once over before it starts beaming its WiFi terror rays into our homes. Or, you know, running XP to browse Facebook, whatever.

that looks really nice.
Is that not one, but TWO full sized shift buttons?
XP? I'm getting tired of these grown up netbooks.
I would love this to have a linux option just because im stingy, MS fans pay the extra if they want, but dont force it down our throats
I'm pretty sure you can get this with linux on, well at least here in the UK, might be different in the US though
the Aspire One 8.9" is available on Linux, but i think that this wont be.
I'm happy to install it myself, but i'd rather not pay the extra.
If these come out for £250ish i will be very happy however, regardless of the OS.
Will be buying one "fo sho"
Don't you live in UAE?
me?
Yes you
Well im English, and am in the UK right now, but i was working in the Emirates for 4-5 months last year.
I dont seem to remember ever posting that on Engadget though...
Why does it matter?
When you buy a notebook/netbook with windows on it and would rather have linux, don't agree to the EULA of Windows shut down the computer phone the maker (Acer) Tell them you have refused the Windows EULA and would like a OEM operating system refund.
Then install Linux. Easy!
You can pre-order this baby at J&R and it's only $350. Who would still take the 8.9inch over this one? The actual physical dimensions aren't much of a difference.
huh? jumping the gun their Kimosabi... not available yet.

If that's the FCC why does it have metric rulers? :|
I didn't see a reference to say this was a picture from the FCC, just that it popped up in their database.
But good catch none the less ;)
Because the FCC isn't completely retarded, and know that using millimetres to measure an item makes more sense.
Even if it's not an FCC picture it doesn't mean there are no metric rulers in the US. Just because most of us here are stuck with the antiquated methods doesn't mean everybody is. I'd love to see Metric pick up in more than some of the engineering fields.
GO METRIC , lets leave 7/27ths to the stone age eh ?
Hmmm...so this or the EEE PC 1000HE?
The promise of the insane battery life + nv280 makes me think I'd go 1000HE...But then again I am still holding out a bit XD
I would personally go with the Asus Eee 1000HE mainly for the battery life, but that might just be speculation.
Would like to save 25 bucks to get one with Linux (Ubuntu RMX?).
