Samsung NC10 netbook touchscreen hack caught on film

Of all the DIY touchscreen projects we've come across lately, this is certainly one of them. The kids over at Netbook Mag have got their hands on the stately Samsung NC10 and were kind enough to put together a full blown, step-by-step guide to replacing its tired, non-touch responsive display with an exciting, new fashioned touchscreen. And if that weren't enough, there's a video of the software drivers being installed -- with a cool, vintage 1994 Euro-rave soundtrack. How great is that? Check it after the break.

I like how he had to tap that folder like 60 times before it would render a double-click.

Oh man, this early house track is ruling my world... oh yeah, and the touchscreen, that's neat too.

I WANT IT IN MY NC10 NOW!

Breaking news-
This just in, people are still using film!
And yes, I know some people really are but not when they're making DIY YouTube videos.
Alex @ Feb 5th 2009 2:14PM
Btw, any effect on battery life?
Aka_katz @ Feb 5th 2009 2:17PM

This would super useful if I could get a damn Samsung NC10 in Canada. Thanks Samsung for postponing the release and not giving us an ETA as to when it would be released.

"Of all the DIY touchscreen projects we've come across lately, this is certainly one of them."
What? What does that sentence even mean?? Of course this is "one of them", or else you wouldn't be mentioning it at all! Did you mean "this is certainly one of the best of them"?
Sorry, guys. I'll go take my Ritalin now.
Erik @ Feb 5th 2009 2:32PM
I had to read that sentence twice myself...
BrandonA. @ Feb 5th 2009 2:39PM
It's a joke... nevermind
Josh Ladella @ Mar 23rd 2009 11:46PM
I thought the same thing. I guess they really wanted to embed that link in a sentence.

Does this touchscreen support multitouch? Has anyone installed Windows 7 on a netbook yet? And would this work with a Hackintosh?
pheer6224 @ Feb 5th 2009 4:09PM
No, yes and maybe. In that order.
mtah @ Feb 6th 2009 1:45AM
"And would this work with a Hackintosh?"
Apparently it does:

Hey guys, hopefully this might answer some of your questions.
For the old skool hands in the air posse the tune in the background is........Spectrum - Brazil :) (Ibiza 1990ish)
The touchscreen does not support multi touch as far as i know.
I've had the screen working in Windows 7 - Win XP and OS X 10.5.5.on the NC10 without any problems.
The "click you bast***" moment on the video was just due to my hand being in a weird position because of the way the cam was set up, it also didn't help having the NC10 set up on a soft surface. :embarrassed:
Battery life I'm not sure of yet but i could run some tests or the manufacturer might have some info.
If you need to know anything else then fire away and I'll help if i can :)
