Archos 10 netbook reviewed: a little rough around the edges
C'mon, did you really expect Archos to knock this out of the park on its first go? Okay, so we sort of did too, but we're not baffled to hear that the Archos 10 could've used a few more days in the oven before hitting primetime. According to a review at Laptop, the unit does have one of the better software stacks, and the speedy hard drive led to some remarkably hasty boost times. That said, the $399 admission price puts it up against some pretty stiff competition, with the Aspire One D150 and the Eee PC 1000HE both offering up more longevous batteries and more comfortable keyboards. In the end, it boiled down to critics preferring the long life and comfy typing over the above-average software suite, but true Archos fanboys may be willing to overlook its drawbacks to still fall in love.

charbax already has 10.
I think he probably has a museum where he collects every Archos product ever made. Just like he collects ids and passwords of angry and dissatisfied users on his closed and crappy AF forum.
For anyone who wants to read more on any Archos product, please ditch the AF forum crap and head over to real open forum un of gadget forum
Talk about a company with history of complete failure, greedy, 0% poor customer service IQ coupled with bad business practices (i.e. failure to deliver on promises, false product advertisements, etc).
And combine that with only one representative::::: CHARBAX.
What do you mean by software stacks? Some of that sounded ok but I would prefer that Archos do something with a bitchin' touchscreen and linux in a netbook form. Who cares about XP home. That's like taking pro and cutting the nads off.
Come on Archos Windows? You make some of the most awesome linux based PMPs. I think all it would take is a company like Archos to offer a truly innovative user experience to help linux on netbooks gain more popularity.
heheh... cutting the nads off...
Yeah well, you know they were gonna fail on this one anyway...
Who needs to put some Archos on a netbook ? they are already aimp2 and amaroK (for windows and linux) and VLC so the multimedia side is pretty much covered.
Just Focus on the MIT/Smartphone with kick ass 5inch touchscreen will you Archos ? :)
Wow, you're so smart. Damn I bet your n70 is worse than the N79.

This netbook is too expensive for what it [doesn't] offers.
Agreed, price to value ratio isn't that good, make the price $299.99 instead.
MSRP is probably higher than street price. You can usually take off 25% from MSRP for the cheapest street price.
Battery life is probably the same as any other netbook once you run the same power management software in the background as Samsung NC10 or any other netbook. Laptop magazine compares the Archos 3-cell battery life with other netbooks with 6-cell batteries.
I don't think that there are battery miracles, all netbooks work the same. If you want to extend the battery life, do some tricks lowering the screen backlight dynamically and lower the power level of the main processor using basic power management software. That is basically what Samsung NC10 does, background task bar software tricks, it's not hardware miracles.
This will suck just like all of their products. Don't buy Archos unless you like burning your money. In this global economy, spend your hard earned money on highly rated products from reliable companies. Do not spend it on junk made by one of the worst companies (Archos).
ARCHOS WILL NOT SURVIVE THIS ECONOMIC DOWNTURN. THEY WILL GO UNDER. Only the truly strong survive in these times.
