BlackBerry Curve 8900 finally available to one and all on T-Mobile
Alright, business customers, just wipe that smug grin off your faces, won't you? The unwashed masses (read: us) have finally been given the green light to rush into T-Mobile stores (and online) to pick up the BlackBerry Curve 8900 for $199.99 on a two-year contract after rebates -- not exactly the $149.99 we were hoping for, but we can always hope for Best Buy to get this sucker out the door for a few bucks less than T-Mobile proper.

im really tempted to grab one! just dont want my hard worked money spent on 8900, be overshadowed by Gemini a few months later........
The Gemini turned out to be an older phone that was axed. There still is a 9300 but I highly doubt youll see that for a while. The Bold was announced in May and released in November to the States, so I wouldnt worry about the 8900 being overshadowed.
Looks awesome, but I'll wait for a 3G version.

sorry my double post,,,, im new to engadget
Hey!
You were "First!" three times!
not another wave of crackberry addicts!
not the original 150 I had hoped for, but I'm still buying this. I hope my first BB doesn't disappoint.
I got my Curve 8900 4 weeks ago as my first BB. If your experience is anything like mine you'll wonder why it took you so long. BTW mine's on Rogers and up here is Canuckistan they've been available for a while.

Sold my Bold for a Curve last month and this is by far the best BB on the market right now! Have a 5800 as a personal phone - the best of both worlds!
Sheesh... You wanna shed some light as to why you ditched your Bold for a Curve? Because I am lost as hell!
Maybe it was the carrier? I hate AT&T, but ditching the Bold for a Curve?
Maybe I should shut up and crawl back in to my cave until Niagara comes out...
By Curve, I meant the 8900 and not 83xx.
I'm sure this has been asked before, but will at&t be rolling these out soon? I know my contract is on its way out and would love to upgrade from my 8100 to either the Flip or the this one here.
I'd even be happy with a rumor or two,
Justin
wow, so is this a complete phone.? I mean would it replace my video ipod.,?thats kinda phone i want...i dont wana et phone that will force me to still carry ipod in other pocket.
So wait I need to come off of $300 day one wasn't it cheaper at best buy 149? And no 3G why can't you just get a phone properly priced that does what you want it to do
What's the next Curve for Verizon? Will it be something like this that has 3G EV-DO? Or is Verizon gonna get the Bold next?
That said... my 8330 Curve is coming in the mail tomorrow... it only cost me $30 with my eligible upgrade. Hey, it's better than my non-Blackberry dumb-phone I've had for 2.5 years.
Sorry mate, but thats a bad deal. T-Mobile is cheaper, the phone is better, perks like GPS/Wifi are free and via UMA calls from abroad are free too.
You shld have ditched verozon for tmo if your contract expired.
so.. a G1 for $179 or this POS for $199? ahahahaha
Right... BlackBerry's are such pieces of shit and no one likes them or buys them. Get the clue, RIM!
3G isn't everything and people who want a business phone for great email features or prefer a more sophisticated device will choose the 8900. I understand that a BlackBerry would be too complicated for you, so you have to bash it.
This looks really tempting, but after my curve trouble I think I'm done with RIM. My curve with the update OS 4.5 kept shutting down in the middle of calls and wouldn't restart until I pulled the battery. Then took about 10 minutes to get going again. That and the constant freezes...I loved it when it actually worked, but that wasn't often enough for me to buy another one. I'm on the G1 now.
Im very excited for this phone to come out, just sold my 8320 and picking up my 8900 today as soon as T-mobile opens!
amazon has it for $49.99 after a $100 MIR!
just checked it out, you're right. that's a damn good deal. i wish my VZW contract was up soooo bad
Can someone tell me why an EDGE only device boasting Internet useage is tempting nowadays?
I'm confused...my sister has had a Blackberry Curve since December and we have T-mobile...is this a different one or something?
Yup, older model. the curve she has is most likely an 83XX series.
at lets talk you can get it for free after rebates!!!!!
I've had mine nearly a month now. Phenomenal phone. GPS, WiFi (it seamlessly transfers between the WiFi and Cellie tower when I get into or out of range) Decent browsing speed.
The camera is astounding! Real autofocus. Takes longer to get things to shoot, but the picture quality is better than any phone I've seen before.
500+ mHz processor, 256 mb internal memory (turns out to be about 120 megs with all my goodies installed) hot swappable microSD.
My only complaint is battery life. (Though I'd complain about that with a 60 hr talk time battery.)
Weak, who would buy this,? Small screen face covered with buttons,.curve $199 or iPhone $199,,hmmh wonder which has the correct formula for success??
I'm so sick of people comparing EVERYTHING to the iPhone. What do you Apple fanboys not understand? Not everything is aimed at competing with the iPhone! The devices aren't in any way related, short of having a screen and being GSM. Get over it!
How about who would buy a phone that acts like its a smartphone without copy and paste? Who would buy a phone that isn't smart enough to give you a landscape keyboard when you're in the browser, especially a phone that its primary and ONLY means of input is a screen??
Get real.
The iphone is the biggest POS ever. i gave it a chance (a 5 month chance) and hated it. no MMS? REALLY APPLE?
i returned it last week and am getting one of these tomorrow.
I've had this BB for about 2 weeks and it's the best BB I've ever owned (previous: 8700, pearl 8100, and the curve 8320). Great camera, good-looking interface, fantastic and crisp new screen. Load it up with a 16gb micro sd and you've got a handy little media player as well. All of the improvements really make it worth upgrading.
Sold out at ALL STORES in Atlanta within an hour of them opening the stores!!!
go to wirefly find it for $99.00 w/ a $100 mail in rebate.
