17-inch unibody MacBook Pros now shipping?

If the above picture is to be believed, the new unibody 17-inch MacBook Pro is beginning to ship a little earlier than Apple projected when it announced that two-week delay. That's a fun little valentine treat if it's true -- anyone else get a ship confirmation?

Actually config I'm planning to buy costs (in Germany; with AppleCare included) about 3900€ ;)

I would respond from my POV.

BluRay? This is damm laptop. I'd rather rip the movie (or get rip off BT) and watch it from hard drive - to simply save battery life while watching the movie.

Card Slot? Well... I'd love to have one too, but I would need CF slot which is rather large and pretty rare on thin notebooks (in fact I haven't seen notebooks with CF card reader).

HDMI? On laptop?? what are you smoking? Anyway if you really want that, you can get for it MiniDP-to-DVI converter and then DVI-to-HDMI converter.

Unfortunately Wintel laptops lack one crucial feature of Apple laptops: "Just Woks".

I'm a PC guy. Because for a long time I thought that dis/re/assembling computer is a way of life. But in five years now that I have Apple's ware I have never had a need to even tinker around them. Because they just work.

My last PC laptop for example was always running very hot. Fan was always on - sucking in dust like vacuum. Fan was quiet in the beginning. But eventually I had to disassemble laptop every 3 or so month to clean the dust from ventilation - to bring fan noise level to bearable level.

all of you haters need to stop... it is simply the price of "luxury" items. it seems to me that it is you who is on your high horse about these products though. mbp's are specced fairly well, and i think the dual graphics chips is a big plus. im personally laying down $2500 for a 15" mbp simply because the 17" is out of reach. is it an obsession with mac? no. is it because i am too rich? no. i'm just not a dumb ass who wastes money on pointless crap.

If I was to ever switch from PC to Mac, the 17-inch MacBook pro would be my choice, since its easy to install Windows and play some games on it. If the battery life can truly reach 8 hours in non-gaming tasks, then I'm sure it can run for 2-3 hours while gaming, which is rather impressive when compared to other "laptops" like the Alienware m17x. My sister says she might save up for one of these 17-inch MacBooks, so I hope its good.
