NVIDIA Ion platform to support VIA Nano processors this year

It's pretty clear NVIDIA already has some big plans for its new nettop / netbook-specific Ion platform, and it looks like its reach is about to get broader still, with company president Jen-Hsun Huang reportedly confirming that the platform will also support VIA's Nano processor by the end of the year. As you may recall, the two companies had been in off and on talks about a partnership last year before things finally fell though in November, and there was even a point where it seemed like NVIDIA might actually acquire VIA. No word from Intel on this latest development, although it doesn't seem like it'll be affecting the Atom's status as the go-to processor in the short term. There's also unfortunately no indication as to exactly what sort of VIA-powered, Ion-based systems we can expect to see, although it certainly wouldn't be a surprise if they followed the Ion / Atom combo and went with a nettop first.[Via GadgetMix.com]

Actually, to be anal, Nvidia shouln't be in "all caps" either. Nvidia is an actual word.

All I want is to be able to play L4D and TF2 with no problems on a netbook which is less than an inch thick.
well, TF2 is really cpu heavy (upgrading my athlon x2 to a phenom II made a huge difference with my 4850, from 30-60 fps to 70-120fps) but I can see L4D being somewhat playable.

LOL I dont know but doing all that work and to have Intel NOT ship ATOM's solo would be epic fail...
I doubt it would be legal for Intel to deny shipment BUT Nvidia is leaving itself wide open for Intel monkey business should Intel decide to be jerks.
I have a promo card that shows actual size of ION board, and its only about half inch wider than my bb curve.
That is a ridiculously tiny board.
Intel is already being jerks, and suing them over the *possibility* of an X58 compatible chipset release. I'm guessing Nvidia would rather release vaporware Nanos at this point than make Intel more money.

I just want to see the Ion platform launched....and in a tablet netbook.
Nano is better than Atom anyways, it just needs to start shipping. Now a Nano + a decent graphics because chrome is horrible is great.
